How long do jump drives last?

Just found this site. Thanks for the work that you guys put into making these apps possible. I just downloaded & am using the portable firefox.

The question that I have is: How long can you expect a jump drive to last. I've always heard that solid state media would last for a long time (tens or hundreds of thousands of rewrites) but I've only used one in my camera to store images. Now that I'm using it to run a web browser, what kind of a lifespan do you think I can expect?

Thanks for any advice you can offer.

FAQ?

Another one for the Off Topic or General Discussion Forum.

Second the FAQ suggestion

Being completely new to usb drives & portable apps in general, I'd second making that a FAQ. It seems to be a somewhat common question, but when I did a search I didn't come up with anything useful & then I posted here. After the comment about lots of posts discussing this, I went back & tried several more searches. Finally stumbled upon a few relevant threads when I tried "USB drive lifespan" Seems simple enough now, but how long does a usb drive last seemed simple enough as well, but provided no relevant results that I could find.
