how to copy a part of the profile like history?

hi

i have a very missy FFP [2.0.0.11] cuz i used it for so long and did some testing on it.

i want to use a new fresh one now and i want to only copy my url history, form & search history, and my saved passwords.

so which files should i copy from the profile folder or if there is another way plz enlight me.

and can i use the same method above for copying from FF2 to FF3 ?

thanks in advance

Its all in your profile folder

formhistory.dat has all your form history
history.dat has all your browsing history
signons2.txt and key3.db have your saved passwords

Hope I didn't forget one Smile

The only

way that I can see of doing this is to install a regular copy of Firefox 2 and then copy your portable profile to it. Then open your copy of FF3 and do File->Import select Firefox and import what you need.

N.B. I haven't tested this so I don't know if it will work.

I dont know why but

when i went to the import wizard the Firefox wasn't listed and it imports only from IE
this is the first time i tried importing anything to firefox so does firefox can import anything from another copy of it? i thought it only imports from IE Only?

Oh

that is all it says for me too but I don't have a local copy of Firefox installed so I assumed that if you did Firefox would be an option. I'm afraid that I have run out of ideas now, sorry I couldn't be of more help, hopefully someone else will have an idea.

thanks man

you helped me by given me an idea and i tried it and it worked:
copy your profile from FFP2 to a local copy of FF2 then install a local copy of FF3 then Launch it and it will automatically copy your profile from the FF2 local copy after that that close it and copy your local FF3 profile to FFP3 and every thing will be there

I'm

not sure that you can use the same method for FF3 however as it uses a new system for it's bookmarks and history.

copying over the whole profile works,

(except the addons, most of them are incompatible with 3.0 for the moment),so it´s ß, try out and see. Wink
