OpenOffice Portable won't start

I install OOo on a thumbdrive using the U3 Launchpad. There appear to be no options for what directory the installation is done in. I have uninstalled/reinstalled three times. I have renamed my drive, being careful to not include spaces in the drive name.

When I try to start OOo, I get the following text in a dialog box:

---------------------------
OpenOffice.org for U3
---------------------------
OpenOffice.org for U3 cannot be started. You may wish to re-install to fix this issue. (ERROR: The program could not be found: \openoffice\program\soffice.exe)
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

As far as I can tell, there is no such directory. I have tried creating it and copying soffice.exe into it, but that didn't work either.

Any theories?

Thanks.

I also have this problem. I have thought it was a problem with the download on the U3 Download Central, but I may be wrong on this. If anyone knows how to fix this please let me know.

Is this with a version from

Are you installing with a version from this site (in the .paf.exe format)? If so, go to the U3 site and get it and get the U3 version.

Or, install the PortableApps platform and be done with u3.

I just tried it

and it worked.
I got Open Office from hree .
And btw the \openoffice\program\soffice.exe from the original poster is in L:\System\Apps\236C571E-47D6-4a73-AD5A-97F1E555E375\Exec
with L being my drive letter and System a hidden folder.
