Sweet App - Startup Manager

I just wanted to let everyone know of this sweet app I found listed on OpenSourceWindows.org. It's called Startup Manager, and it pulls processes & applications listed in your startup folder, registry, Window boot file, and puts it all into a nice user-friendly GUI. Within the GUI, you can delete processes that are scheduled to start when your computer starts, and add others. I personally love this, because I hate when apps decide they're gonna start when the computer starts, and then put that info in some hard to find place like the registry. Go check it out, I'm sure a lot of people will benefit from it, I just thot it was noteworthy.

Here's the link.

And some screenshot for those still trying to understand me.

Sorry for sounding like spam, just thot it was a really beneficial app.

Well,

There's always been MSConfig. Biggrin

OpenSource you say? Hmmmm... A possible candidate for a new app. Though, you're already almost done with it, aren't you? Blum

Yea!

Open Source Biggrin Well, it is a 'Startup Manager' so it's only useful portably if you're changing a friends config.

How would you fix that??

Once it doesn't run can you even get to any of your programs? Man that would be a bummer.

I would guess ctrl+alt+delete and run explorer.exe again.

Patrick Since You Love It So Much...

Would you mind making it portable? This would be great for when I help my less computer savey friends and family do maintenance on their computers.

Sure Sure

I've already contaced the author about a couple things, so I'll check where settings are stored and see if he can accomodate them portably.

Give me a few weeks tho. It'll probably be quicker than that. I just don't wanna give you a deadline too short.

Is the registry key to run

Is the registry key to run on of them? I thought about maybe dorking with it (Please don't shoot me) so I installed in on one computer and went home with it and it would run.

But you know all that all ready . . . So I'm just rambling . . .

I copied it onto my flash

I copied it onto my flash drive- but when I got home it wouldn't run. Said it needed a registry key.

But you knew that right ?: Smile

I did I did. :P

There's a portable version available on the apps site, but it still needs that registry key, which I will be taking care of.

Well Patrick how's the portable comming?

I've been looking on my system and I don't see to many major issues. One question though. How come it can't uncheck most of the programs it shows that are already there only delete them?

msconfig Compatible

Unfortunately, it only supports enabling and disabling items that are msconfig compatible.

WinKey+R -> msconfig
