Hello.

Thanks for the great app; really appreciate it. One thing for this update though; Winrar produces the following error:

Seek error in the file portable_abiword_2.4.2.zip
An attempt was made to move the file pointer before the beginning of the file.

and 7-zip does the same, saying that the zip file is not supported. Any ideas? Maybe some of the mirrors on SF have a corrupted file?

Thanks. Smile

The zip got corrupted after being uploaded and would not open. This has been corrected.

So is this the last of the new apps?

It isn't a new app. Neither was Portable OpenOffice.org. When I said new apps, I meant NEW apps.

Like I've said in the forums, I was a bit busy with my paid work and then I had to hold off on releasing the next app until things stabilized from the Slashdot and Digg articles.

AbiWord appears to have no native Open Document support despite the description information. Even when I installed the Open Document plugin it consistantly crashed before I could edit anything.

Right now this app is not any better than wordpad or notepad, and takes up more space. It would be nice to have real Open Document support on an app that doesn't take up a ridiculous amount of space like Open Office.

The OpenDocument plugin works just fine. I use it. And a How-To for installing it is right on the support page. If you have further issues and would like to actually offer constructive criticism (instead of just complaining), post a note in the forums and not as a news story comment.

I recently fell in love with AbiWord! As an author on the go I don't have money to spend on Microsoft Office and or the space on my thumb drive for open office. AbiWord is lite weight and gets the job done.
