Perhaps I got too comfortable with P. Gaim, but isn't there a way to block individuals because I've not been able to find it.
Miranda is good, but the overall intuitiveness of GAIM to me is much more of a convenience than offered by Miranda. Nevertheless, I'm sure there is an add on or some other type of app that would or could make the transition somewhat more user friendly.
I personally much prefer the interface and functionality of Gaim. I use it as my primary IM client. But quite a few people really like Miranda, so I wanted to give it the same treatment as Gaim so people can use it portably just like the other apps.
I'm considering a few additions like the DB virtualization (though I didn't get to fully test it with the most recent Mirana release) which would ease writes.

I use miranda as my portable messenger. Mostly because Portable Gaim doens't work for me (the MSN client is broken or something, I think it's the GAIM in itself which is "faulty") but also because I find It to big and bloated...
But Miranda is a pain to set up if you want a nice chat interface, popup's and such. Nyargh...
It works just fine for me. Never had an issue with it.

Has anyone successfully connected to Gtalk using Jabber protocol using portableMiranda? I know it works in the regular Miranda, but I believe since portableMiranda doesn't come with some SSL Libraries, I think I am not able to connect.
Or am I doing something terribly wrong?
Portable Miranda comes with all the libraries in a normal Mirand zip package. Nothing was removed.

Works for me...
It's a bug documented on sourceforge so it isn't just me
example:

It's not a problem with the portable version then.

Anyway to make miranda pull your icq and aim server lists instead of making you add everyone manually?
Huh? It should do this automatically the first time you connect. I know it did for me.

From toc.aol.com to aimexpress.aol.com (i think, I don't have it in front of me)

This is one of the first things I did, since when using the toc server (as opposed to the aimexpress one), profile pages almost never load.
The correct servername is aimexpress.oscar.aol.com. Not sure what Oscar means... probably an affectionate name for the server. My uncle's email server is named Thor.
