Grisbi - Personal Finance

Program: Grisbi
License: Open Source/GPL
Description: Personal Finance ( similar to MS Money or Moneydance )
Website: http://www.grisbi.org/

I have found that GNUCash is available, but this program is a lot smaller ( it will not compete with the functionality of GNUCash, but totally enough for keeping track of transatctions, bank accounts, etc... something like one-entry book-keeping)

It'd Be Nice

If John owned pa.com as well. Too bad that other company does. It'd be like, SF style.

I mean

It'd be cool if John owned the domain http://pa.com/ and had it assigned to PortableApps.com, it's be like SourceForge.net and SF.net, because everyone always says PA.com, but it's owned by a completely different company. Blum

True

Let's refrain from using pa.com to refer to it, especially around newer members, so as not to cause any confusion.

guilty as charged!

I'm guilty of the "pee ay dot com" abbreviation. I'll try to remember to stop doing it.

Yeah.

I was thinking of shooting you (an email) about it. Blum

Working on Email

I'm actually working on thinning out the emails at the moment (I cut down 200 today). I know it's been hard on devs, potential devs and potential partners. So, I'm not declaring email bankruptcy, but I am categorizing, form-lettering and clearing out. I'll post about it when done so that if I miss anything, people will know to do a followup either in forum or via email.

I just found this...

pa.us isn't registered.

Insert original signature here with Greasemonkey Script.

Not Worth It

I don't think it's worth it. Most people don't use us domains, and unless it was .com it's not really worth it. PA.org is a different story, but it's registered as well.

Redirects here...

I don't know if you're talking about pa.org or portableapps.org, but portableapps.org redirects to here. (portableapps.com)

zkatai,

You be bumpin again Sad
Please don't do this.

It appears that there might not be much interest in this project.
It happens that way sometimes.

But if you keep coming back every 3 to 5 days to bump the post it will annoy people, trust me Wink

Tim

ps, there is no need to reply to this post, but most especially not in 3 to 5 days. Yeah, I've used that one Blum

I've worked with Gribsi, it might be worth pursuing

There is a distinct lack of money management programs offered here, and I think it's the type of functionality that would be great as a portable app.

Don't know why there isn't more interest at this point, especially since open source fans and open source programmers are typically rolling in dough! Smile

Any other FOSS money managers that could be candidates?

Grisbi vs GnuCash

I looked at Grisbi when I was searching for a FOSS replacement for MS Money, but I was scared off by the lack of recent progress and settled on GnuCash. Now that I've used double-entry accounting I could never go back!

Personal finance

Almost all my work is on Portbale since almost a year, and I really appreciate the idea of having things on a portable drive. One thing I miss very much is Grisbi. ( Unfortunatelly GNUCash is too big and the functionality is too complex for me ) Thanks in advance, if anyone could pick it up and make that portable.
