I wish to import all extensions, settings, addresses, etc from local TB2009 to TBPortableapps. I think I know how to do this, but I prefer asking to be sure. I went to this page
https://portableapps.com/support/thunderbird_portable#local_profile
It says “Just copy all of those files to the Data\profile directory within Thunderbird Portable.”
My question is this.
First there are 2 yellow folders in Profile folder of my local TB. One says “default” and the other says “default user”. Which do you recommend I use? Or do I import both?
My second question.
Do I have to open (doubleclick) the yellow folder that you recommend and Highlight all the individual files simultaneously and copy and paste in G:\PortableApps\ThunderbirdPortable\Data\profile?
Or do I simply rightclick on the yellow folder and copy only the yellow folder that you recommend and paste the folder in TB Portableapps?
I never heard about the 2 folder. What Windows do you have?
I think its "default" but I am not sure. You can try it by copying the files from "default" and Launch Thunderbird Portable and check whether all your Emails are there.
About the second question: Just open the folder and copy the files.

Yes, in this folder of my local TB C:\Documents and Settings\my name\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles there are 2 files. One is a .default and the other is a .default User. Which one do I open and copy all the files from? I’m using Windows XP Pro but I don’t see how this relates to my question? Thanks
Above the Profiles folder you have a profiles.ini text file.
Open it on Notepad, you'll see something like this:
On the top, after [General] you have StartWithLastProfile=number.
Count the profiles listed down starting from one, when you get to the profile that counting from 1 matches the number on the second line you will have the profile you want to copy, as it is the last profile you used on that machine.
Blue is everything.
check which folder is bigger (in Mb) and copy its content inside the portable profile folder

then the socket packet pocket has an error to report
OK, the .defaultuser folder was the largest. So I will copy the contents. Now in which specific folder in Thunderbird Portable Apps do I paste it? There is an “App”, a “Data”, and an “other” folders. Each one of these has subfolders also. Please specify the path to the specific folder where I’m supposed to paste.

Looks like the import of that large file into Data/Profile is working fine. Thanks for your help.
