Secure Login App and Start Up Menu

I was wondering if anyone was developing or knew if it was possible to have an app that would require a password when you plug in any usb drive that contains your portable apps. I am using PStart and it is a good menu based option, but is anyone developing a menu started from an auto run.inf file that you can list your apps on that pops up when the computer starts your usb portable drive. Just some ideas I think would be useful to alot of people. I have a Lexar 1 gb drive that uses secure login, but I am not sure if the drive is formated to us it or if something like that can just be loaded on any usb drive? Any Ideas? Thanks!

The point is moot because Windows won't use the autorun.inf file on a removable drive when you insert it. It completely ignores the Open= line. Besides the fact that even if it did work, autorun.inf can be bypassed. Just right-click the drive, hit "Open" instead of "AutoPlay," then you can just navigate to the folder where your portable apps are stored and run them.

To be truly secure, this either has to be implemented in the hardware and/or special software (this is the case with secured JumpDrives) or you can use an external encryption program, which adds an extra step to the process (I believe you have to mount the encrypted volume yourself). Even if Windows did use autorun.inf from a USB drive, expecting to get any level of security out of adding a password prompt to it is naïve.

Thanks

I was just wondering if anyone was looking into it or if it was even possible. Thanks for the input.
