Local Folders

Whilst transferring e-mail messages to local folders noted that " nstmp--5" appeared, have on many occasions try to delete from my Thunderbird local files but does not appear to want to be deleted. Whilst using backup on portableapps when just about completed 78% shows an error " 7zA.exe-corrupt file" believe this may be something to do with the above. Would appreciate some help in resolving this matter.

I assume you have run chkdsk

I assume you have run chkdsk /f on the drive, and maybe /r as well? (The one from the command prompt is less convenient but sometimes is more thorough).

The file in Thunderbird might be hard to remove because of a disk problem (but that should be fixed by chkdsk, so you may be able to remove it the normal way. Otherwise, you could try going to ThunderbirdPortable\Data\profile\Mail\Local Folders to see if the file is visible from Explorer and delete it that way.

Are you talking about restoring a backup or creating one? Is the backup on the same (removable) drive or on your computer's fixed disk? chkdsk might solve that problem too. If you are trying to restore from a previously created backup, you might be able to load the file into 7-zip and use "test" on it, to see if it really is corrupt.

Thank you for your prompt reply, having run chkdsk and come up clean thence proceeded to look at Thunderbirdportable\data\profile\mail\local folders and managed to delete corrupt file (nstmp-5). Regarding backup on portable application has run okay on USB/flash drive.
