Hi.
May I ask you will it has a problem if we have 2 version of the softwares ?
I have a software installed on my desktop computer, then I try to run the portable version of the same software. It runs fine.
Its just that after that I can't run the desktop installed software, it says it lacks of some personalization files.
Then I try to uninstall / reinstall the desktop software, it kept sayin that "the software is in use, please close the program" while on ctrl+alt+del i couldn't find the software is working hence i can't close anything.
restarting 3x doesnt help much. I tried to delete the folder, the file .exe also can't be deleted, says that it being used. Hence I can't reinstall the software.
I don't understand much how portable appplication would work, but is it some known issue ? Btw I did a lot of search already, and believe me Im bad at it. Sorry if this question already asked.
By the way, I would like not to mention the software, since I just realized that the software might not be legally to be portabled. But just out of curiosity, what cause the error, so I ask here.
Unfortauntely there's not much we can help you with, it sounds like you have a poor build or some other portable software that screwed up your local settings. Have you checked the processes under task manager and not just the applications?
Wow, thank you so much for such a quick reply.
Yes I checked the processes under task manager already, nothing is on it.
Finally my solution is, underiberately I changed the filename of the software.exe to somethin else, then revert it back to software.exe, and voila with 100% confusion the uninstallation progress work, so I manage to re-install the desktop software.
But I still not sure what happened with the portable software, I think it should be poor build portable software ( since its illegal).
Can I ask you one more thin though, I have confusion in this software portable , that when I open the portable software, the settings for options, kinda same with my desktop installed version. So its kinda use my desktop version settings.
I think this might be the problem ? How do normally portable software manage to do where it has software installed already ? does the settings file also inside folder of portable software , or it will do copy the existing desktop software ? (and might have possibility to crash it like mine)

im using portable photoshop actually. Dont worry I deleted it already. (Im afraid that if I mention illegal software portable i would be banned).
...until you mentioned it. For all we know you could have a legal copy.

lol.. im actually not sure. I just thought it might be illegal. Coz I think normally phothop has license for 1 computer or so right ? then having it portable means it can be used in any1 computer. I thought so.. but if it's legal then it's very very nice :).

The portable applications here create a backup of the local settings, move the portable settings into the proper place, then when the portable app is closed, it restores the local settings.

The Portable Apps here don't interfere with a locally installed copy that is not running. They use a few different techniques for handling a circumstance where the local install is already running. With some, the Portable version runs, but does things differently if they detect a local instance running. With others, they refuse to run if they might mess up the local version.
It can be a problem for two instances running on the same machine if they were not written to allow it. But for the most part the Portable Apps are careful about it.

thank you very much for your clear explanation :).
My best guess currently is my portable software is not really good built, hence creating problems when i run on computer where it has a duplicate software.
Thank you very much all :).
