Ok heres what I am currently using for a portable torrent system:

I have the downloads and torrents default to "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents" folder so the main IO is on C:\ and not the flash drive. This works well for now, but how hard would it be to make this an official PortableApps version of µTorrent? Are there any licensing issues? could there be any performance increases with a customized PortableApps version?

Although uTorrent is freeware it is not open-source software. It is under a closed-source liscence, and has recently been bought by Bittorrent Inc.
Aside from the liscencing issue, making uTorrent portable would be a great idea. It shouldn't be too hard to compress, the entire program is only 170kb.
You just create an empty file called "settings.dat" and drop it in the same DIR as uTorrent.exe .
..please don't tell me that I should use closed-source MAFIAA owned software

As mentioned, like many users do he wants an official version.
Not official, but it works... It's just the launcher, you need to have the program itself, this can copy it directly from your installed version.

** ALREADY ASKED ** utorrent itself will never happen but frostwire is supposedly in beta and Free Download Manager (FDM) has been there for weeks both handle bittorrent and more.

sergentsiler, tone it down please. The original poster didn't know this has already been requested, and the person you replied to (Aciago) had nothing to do with it but help by providing a solution that did happen.
Second, I don't see Free Download Manager Portable or Frostwire Portable in beta anywhere.
Before you criticize, it helps to know what you are talking about. Ryan, one of the moderators here posted the uTorrent launcher quite a long time ago. It automatically downloads uTorrent, so there are no redistribution issues.
Frostwire is not in beta testing, and never has been. There was talk of a portable LimeWire in development, but there hasn't been any news on that in months.
Also, FDM is NOT in beta and never was, because of the way it hijacks Firefox, and forces it to use FDM as the download manager, even when you tell it not to.

If it were to ever to be made in an official PortableApps program, it would be nice to have it so that the downloads are automatically saved in the directory of uTorrent on the portable device.
It copies a pre-installed copy, but it doesn't download and install it for you.

I have used uTorrent, azureus, kTorrent, frostwire since it came out, and freeloader for a while and can't settle on just one. uTorrent is my favorite because its simple and fast, but no linux (and apparently not open-source). Azureus is my least favorite because of it tends to glitch or act up on slower machines and it seems bulky. I'm not even that big on frostwire. These are just my humble opinions. I was told to check out bitTornado and the FoxTorrent extension. Meanwhile, still using uTorrent and kTorrent mostly.
