I only use firefox portable. Right now I am using 2.0.0.11. I downloaded and installed the firefox paypal plugin, but it was an exe and I am concerned it installed only for the machine I installed it on, not for firefox portable overall, meaning that when I move to my laptop it won't be there. Is there currently anyway to get this plugin to be portable? I did search the forums and found only references to paypal donations not the plugin.
EDIT: The paypal plugin shows in my add/remove programs list in the control panel on my desktop.

From where did you get the exe.
I went to the Add-Ons site and could only find this Add-On in the "Sandbox", and it had no link

You log into paypal and it has a link on the left side of the screen that says paypal plugin.

I guess I wont be of much help, I don't have a paypal account.
It's a bummer that they make you sign up before you can get access to it.
Also, generally, I only use Add-Ons that come from the Mozilla site itself.
You could try extracting the contents of the .exe using an extraction program like Universal Extractor and see what's in it. If it contains an .xpi Maybe you could try loading that into FFP.
Since they do call it a Plug-In, as opposed to an Add-On, it might not be that easy. You might need to find the "Plugin" files [good chance it will be a .dll, but maybe not, and maybe more than that] and copy them to:
[x]:\pathtofireforxportable\FirefoxPortable\Data\plugins

First impression does not look good
The .exe seems to be for both FF and IE.
After extraction [using Universal Extractor] found another .exe that does not want to extract.
No "obvious" FF Plug-In files found yet
The app/plug-in is definitely going to need/use JAVA.
CanNot see inside the .cab files, used Windows Explorer and 7zip.
None of the folks I know that use a local install of FF are willing to let me install the plug-in

Looks like a mess to me
Seems like this is a "semi-plug-in", "semi-Add-on/extention".
Search your computer where you installed the PayPay plugin for the following files:
paypalplugin.jar = this is likely to be part of the "Add-On/Extension" part and should/could be in or next to a chrome type directory.
and
IPayPalPlugin.xpt
OCardHandler.js
PayPalPlugin.dll
These are likely the "Plug-In" type part and which would normally go in the /data/plugin directory.
Now the question is what to do with these files.
As I mentioned above normally you put the "Plug-Ins" in the plugin directory.
But the .jar is usually part of an "installed extension" under the profile.
Since I can't find an .xpi I can't do the install part of it. This would usually entail the creation of a directory under the ...\Data\profile\extensions and contain things like "chrome", "manifest", "install.rdf, .jars and the like.

Hopefully it gives you or someone else a starting place to look and some ideas on how to proceed.
I'd just use PP using the Web Interface if I were you.

Hey man, thanks for the effort. I would like to get ti to work, but I agree its not likely. Oh well, hopefully someone will get it to work or they'll release a real extension soon.
I have the Paypal plugin working just fine on my Firefox Portable. All I did was install it on my regular browser and then copy all of the settings over to Firefox Portable (the whole profile). It may take a while the first startup to work out all of your extensions, but otherwise it should be fine.
