I wish to do a mirror(update) between my main USB drive and another when I close my portable apps menu, (WinXP SP2 BTW)
Using Toucan (1.2.1) preview mode it took 9 minutes for 1GB (2,000 folders, 19,000 files)
[TestMirrorUpdatePreview]
Type=Sync
1=G:\\
2=I:\\
Function=Mirror (Update)
Attributes=1
Preview=1
Exclusions=|
If I do the same preview function with Ivor Green's Synchronize It it takes 14 seconds and if I use Dimio's DSynchronize it takes 29 seconds.
Something is wrong somewhere for Toucan to take more than 20 times longer?
wouldn't have thought wrong, like doing things a different way. I haven't had time to take a good look at those programs but I suspect it is due to the way Toucan does Mirroring, it the difference as bad with a simple copy? The way preview works is changing in 2.0, I just tried out my latest code (with no optimisations) and it did 1.41GB 12,000 files & 1,500 folders in 2 minutes, which is a huge improvement, it should get even faster by the final release as well although that is still a long way off those other programs, I'll have to see what I can do.
I also have noticed that Toucan takes a while for any type of backup.
should run at the same speed as 7zip once it has worked out any exclusions, how much slower is it for you?
