So, I use my USB drive at home and work all the time. I have never had trouble allowing it to update any add-ons itself. But, this time, I notice that none of my extensions are active. Even the themes is not active.
Poking around, I notice that ALL of my extensions and themes say that they will INSTALL (not update) after firefox is restarted. It doesn't seem to matter that I didn't actually update most of them in the last month or so. Many of the extensions have never required an update since their original install.
So, I do the closing of the firefox app thing, and then I do the restart firefox app thing. Same problem. None of my add-ons work. And, again, they all say they need firefox to restart for them to be INSTALLED.
Help!
PS. I set my browser to open the same pages as when it was most recently shutdown, but it never works that way anymore. It always starts with a blank page now. I've checked the settings and it is correct (i.e., it is supposed to open up the same pages where I left off when I shutdown). Related issue?
It does seem to remember all my passwords still.
I've tried a new install of the firefox portable app. Still has the same issue.
Did the virus check thing. It's clean. AVG and avast both say so.
Help!
deleting the extensions.rdf (and possibly extensions.ini) from your FirefoxPortable\Data\profile folder, that should fix it.

It's the prefs.js thing (I have no idea what that is).
Isn't this a generic firefox question?

I just want to say your problem sounds similar to one I was having. The way I fixed it was to disable certain extensions that I knew required a lot of attention when they were first installed. I disabled a couple of extensions and then the others finally installed. Then I one-by-one enabled the ones I thought were the problem. It takes some time doing it this way but it worked for me. This is assuming you installed a lot of extensions/updates all at once.
