About Warsow:
Warsow is a free standalone first person shooter game for Windows and Linux. It is based on the Qfusion 3D engine (a modification of the Quake 2 GPL engine), and aimed on the competitive scene, or the e-sports community.
About this version:
The launcher copies the config file from the Data\Settings folder on start and back after exiting the game so your configuration file will be backed up using PortableAppsBackup functionality. All level files will be downloaded into the App\warsow\basewsw folder. I did not go about moving those around to save the wear on the Flash drives. (You could disable the copy config file in the INI to prevent the backing up of the config is you want). I did not upload the complete package including the game because it's rather big (181MB). This release follows the Portable Apps folder structure as close as possible.
About the Launcher:
This distribution uses my own Generic Portable Launcher (GPL) that can be configured through an external INI file with the same name. Due to being a generic launcher it supports more options than Warsow currently uses. (For example it can show messages, launch from TrueCrypt containers etc.) So it only needs to be re-compiled if you need an custom icon. I included the Launcher's source so you might take a peek inside.
Usage:
Unzip the launcher into PortableApps folder and download the Warsow zip. Unzip Warsow into PortableApps\WarsowPortable\App\warsow\

[UPDATE] Fixed an issue with the working dir.
for testing...
If a packet hits a pocket on a socket on a port,
and the bus is interrupted as a very last resort,
and the address of the memory makes your floppy disk abort,
then the socket packet pocket has an error to report
I'll give it a try this weekend.
When I start the game from the PA icon I get the error message "Error during initialization. Could not find any Shaders." Clicking OK then closes out the error window and the Warsow tab as well.
If I go the Warsow folder on my flash drive and double click on Warsow Portable.exe then the game starts up.
Paulf
The error is related to having the wrong working dir.
Hmm, Maybe I should test it with v1 also Going to do that now.
Ok, I see that the Portable Apps menu v1.0.1 doesnt set the working dir. I'll try to fix it in the launcher and upload a new version as soon as I have it working.
[EDIT] I have uploaded a fixed version. It now also starts correct with CAFE Mod
The launcher and the game work well.
I didn't have any problems.
On my computer I found no files concerning "Warsow Portable"
I find this file to be not needed anymore, as the latest version of Warsow (Which is 0.62) already has a portable version.
You may already be aware of this, but nevertheless: https://portableapps.com/about/what_is_a_portable_app
