When I was investigating how well PAs would work for me I macro'd trials to test the speed of PFirefox.
Under the same conditions, switching every few seconds to make up for network fluctuations, PFirefox outperformed an identical regular Firefox. This happened after several thousand trials on 3 different computers with 3 different ISPs, for 6 different websites! I don't know how or why, but I love it!
Portable Firefox loaded identical pages faster than a regular Firefox install in all of 18 scenarios.. by between 3 and 21 percent faster!
Anyone have any insight into why this is?

I've also noticed a speed improvement, but I have no idea why this is so. I also get it with PTB and POO.o, and others. Possible becasue no other reads/writes are going on on the drive unlike a hard drive with the OS and background tasks, or maybe becasue it doesnt mess with the registry. Whatever it is, I like it. I have identicle profiles on my Local and Portable, and portable usually is faster.

Not (totally) true for me. For some reason whenever I'm at digg PFF seems to slow WAY down.
the only thing I can recommend is checking all your extensions... some extensions really slow the crap outa PFirefox. Take a screen and go through them 1 by 1, (a hassle, but you might find one killing your performance).
digg.com loaded fast for me... what the hell is it anyway? seems kinda interesting

It is basically the same as /. but differant. /. has the news articels and comments on there page. Digg from whatI have seen links you to the article to read versus a quick paraphrase.
With that in mind... I use /. for my info. I even went ahad and used its RSS feed as I normally hate RSS. lol

confirmed i guess that digg causes leaks in ff. any how i reinstalled all of my extensions and it seems to help the problem quite a bit
The portable apps might be using more RAM (I know OO does) and that can explain why they are quicker... I think.
