John-Would putting a search forums box/link right next to the main forum page, be helpfull?

Also maybe putting that link as a sticky on every individual forum topic?

It seems that people can't find the search box in the upper right corner of the site.

Maybe they think that is not for the forum section.

Seems like it needs to be more prominent for people.

No and Yes

I can't put it on the page (it would seriously mess up the layout). But I'm working on general forum guidelines like Angel search first (b) then search google (c) if it's a bug, see if it's a known issue with the app itself and not just the portable one.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Good...but

We need to make sure there is a way to make people read the guidelines.

You know...and I hesitate to

You know...and I hesitate to suggest this, because this is one of the things I absolutely despise...but what if there was a script or something that presented a pop-up message the very first time a user logs in? Or, a scripted pop-up tailored specifically for the support forums? And in the case of FF users, what about a one-time re-direct page?

...

Pretty much everybody has a popup blocker these days (even IE includes one now!), so it'd be useless. If the popup was launched by a script, the popup blockers will think it's an ad popup and block it.

Besides, popups are generally looked down upon these days, no matter what their true nature is.
