KompoZer: It doesn't work

For some reason, when I try to use KompoZer Portable, the Help file is literally unreadable, and none of the toolbar buttons work. I even re-installed he app, but it didn't help. Any help would be appreciated

Strange...I didn't have any

Strange...I didn't have any issues with it at all. Which help file was unreadable?

Can you provide a bit more information, it may help someone else solve the issue

  • what version of windows are you running
  • is the system up to date
  • where are you trying to run the app from (desktop, flash drive, c:, etc.
  • anything else you think may help

The developer formerly known as ZGitRDun8705

Have you

removed your thumb drive without safe ejecting?

Just in case, run a scandisk, and then delete the entire portable nvu folder and reinstall.

If a packet hits a pocket on a socket on a port,
and the bus is interrupted as a very last resort,
and the address of the memory makes your floppy disk abort,
then the socket packet pocket has an error to report Biggrin

That would be KompozerPortable folder

Just to be clear, Aciago Smile

Louis, the re-install may not replace corrupted files, so if you delete the KompozerPortable folder before you re-install, it may help.

I'd suggest downloading a fresh copy of the latest version, too, in case your installer is corrupt.

P.S. Is NVU still here? Kompozer made it totally obsolete!

You're right

Kompozer is the up to date portable app here, but I use NVU, why? because Kompozer portable crash a lot on XP, and I mean really a lot...

And, kompozer does not run on Vista, but latest NVU does... Smile

Really?

I use it on XP a lot - I'm web mastering 3 sites on a regular basis - and I don't think it's ever crashed on me. I actually find it MORE stable than NVU. The CSS editor is quite a bit better in Kompozer, too.

I haven't tried Vista yet, but I've seen a single bug report on SF. It was pretty vague, and the developer could not reproduce it, and said that it does work on Vista.
I also searched for comments on this site, and nobody else says it doesn't work on Vista.

How does Kompozer misbehave on Vista? Anybody else having problems?

What?

I use Kompozer Portable as a local install on Vista... (no installer made for Windows... Only zip package... I like more to have it this way)

Blue is everything.

No need to apologize!

Don't hesitate to ask questions if you are stuck on something. Everyone here is happy to help, and besides, in this case, the discussion brought forward an issue (Kompozer installation on Vista) that needs a closer look.
