Hey guys, I saw a windows explorer replacement one time when i was looking for either an SVG editing program, or an encryption program. I remember that it had (can have) two sets of windows.
It had one folder veiw (folder tree) - but you could select two different folders (at one time)to copy files straight over. For those of you who know this - it looks like FireFTP (or FTP clients in general). I know my description may be a bit retarded or confusing, but please help because I'm actually interested in getting it again.
I seem to remember it was in a forum (in request) that asked for several things and claimed "thanks a heap" (to John etc) "all i could possibly want now is:"
Thanks in advance for any attempt at aid.
Well, there is Xenon that I wrote.

a windows explorer REPLACEMENT or SUPPLEMENT?
a windows explorer replacement would completely override windows explorer whereas the commonly mistaken supplement works in tandem with windows explorer and usually has drab and dull graphics and usualy is displayed in the form of a file tree.

But a replacement would have additional issues, like for example if the replacement shuts down and doesn't start the explorer again, undesired issues will arise.
Sorry, i guess i chose the wrong word. Supplement - it was an additional program that does file browsing. It doesn't remove the Windows one, or stop it running.

There are a number of other programs you can use as a file manager, Xenon, as mentioned by other posts, is one of the FOSS ones. There are a number of other portable freeware ones at the other 'church' (portablefreeware.com). Personally, I like one called xplorer2, which fits your description, as well.
I knew it was right as soon as I read the name. xPlorer lite was what i was thinking of. But seriously, thanks for Xenon too. I'll go check them both out. Thanks all.

Another Windows Explorer Replacement is A43 File Management Utility - by B. G. Miller. bgmiller@shawneelink.net http://www.shawneelink.net/~bgmiller/
It is open source and free. I found it on a BartPE.ISO disk.

Do any of these say the size of folders any chance?
For note, I don't know what file manager you use locally, but there's a plugin for the Explorer shell on SourceForge to receive a 'folder size' column.
If you like xplorer lite, there is a package with a launcher that handles the registry entries on my site.
Its packaged with full permission of the author/owner.
