PTB1.5rc1 with Enigmail doesn't set GPG path

My prefs.js file has the following setting for enigmail:

user_pref("extensions.enigmail.agentPath", "S:\\software\\Portable Thunderbird 1.5rc1 with gpg and enigmail\\PortableThunderbird\\gpg\\gpg.exe");

If I change my drive letter for the USB device, the NSI code doesn't update this field. I am unable to send encrypted email or do key management.

I've also tried all manner of "..\\gpg\\gpg.exe", etc, without success.

No, it doesn't

You can't set the path in prefs.js or in TB. If you do, PTB w Enigmail won't work.

What do you suggest I do

What do you suggest I do then in order to get the Engimail functionality working? It can't find gpg.exe.

As a test, I tried doing a fresh unzip of your PTB1.5rc1. I started PTB and cancelled out of the account creation wizard. I then went to OpenPGP--> Key Management. The function failed and reported that it was unable to find the gpg executable.

Also, when unziping the download with 7zip, two directories are created:
PortableThundebird
PortableThunderbird

I don't think that's related to my problem though, but I thought you'd want to know.

Directories are a known bug

But it works just fine out of the box unzipping and using PTB w Enigmail. Lots of people are using it. I don't know what could be causing your issue, though.

This problem is fixed after

This problem is fixed after upgrading to the newest 1.5.0.2 version. Maybe something about the new data/app directories?

Added feature

Since you had a problem, I actually added a function to the launcher to write the GPG path to the prefs.js on each launch to be absolutely sure GPG/Enigmail will work for everybody.

pgp path

Hi John, I'm a new user running
thunderbird 1.5.0.8 and I'm loving it.

when playing games with multiple installs
in the same PC, I sometimes (and sometimes not)
see what looks to be a missing backslash for
the automatically-generated path to gpg.exe,
which the GUI interprets as something else.

from 'GnuPG executable path' entry:
C:,\tb3\App\gpg\gpg.exe

from ...\Data\profile\prefs.js:
user_pref("extensions.enigmail.agentPath", "C:\r\\tb3\\App\\gpg\\gpg.exe");

so the obvious guess is there's one rather
than two backslashes after the colon.

I'll check in if I notice any pattern as
to when this occurs.

thank you kindly, mike
