This app has been released. Thanks for testing!
https://portableapps.com/news/2008-03-19_-_windirstat_portable_1.1.2.2

Application: WinDirStat
Category: Utilities
Description: WinDirStat is a disk usage statistics viewer and cleanup tool for Microsoft Windows (all current variants). It makes it easy to visualize the files taking up space on a given drive and free up space. This package is of the 1.1.2 Re-Release made in Sept 07 which added more languages to WinDirStat (hence 'Release 2' in the name).

Release Notes:
1.1.2 Release 2 Pre-Release 1 (2008-03-18): Initial release... combines the ANSI and Unicode versions of the tool into one package with the launcher automatically selecting the appropriate version depending on the host OS. The icon within the program itself has been cleaned up. All files are UPXed to save space. The registry used for maintaining options and settings is backed up and restored. The program registry key path is updated on each launch. And the launcher automatically gets the language from the upcoming PortableApps.com Platform release.

I did

I did create a page for it last night... and I was going to just release it seeing as the old pre-release had no issues. But I wanted to ensure the updates I made for the icons and language auto-detection don't cause any new bugs first. Better to be sure it's done than rush it out.

It works on vista

I've used in on Vista Ultimate, and I haven't found any obvious problems. Look forward to it's official release.

No problems here on Win XP limited account.

Is that the same "Platform language thing" Filezilla has? Cause it looks different.

Partially

It uses a different environment variable that the platform makes available. It makes available multiple env vars as different programs use locales in different ways. WinDirStat uses the locale id, FileZilla uses glibc just like GIMP and Pidgin do. I'm typing up some documentation on it for use with the upcoming platform release. But, basically, the way it works is when you pick a language in the menu, it sets the various environment variables. The app launchers pick these up and set the app language as appropriate.

The end result for the user is that they set their PortableApps.com Menu to, say, German and then when they launch GIMP, Pidgin, FileZilla, Toucan, WinDirStat, etc... each app automatically comes up in German on launch.

ah cool

Thats what I thought. I just didnt realise that it needs different ways and variables. I think its a good idea and makes nice use of NSIS's ability to inherit variables from the "mother ship".

And thanks for answering my question Smile
