it's been some time since I last heard anything about a Portable Miro or Portable Handbrake. Can they be made portable? If so, why hasn't anyone tried it yet? Go to http://www.opensourcewindows.org for info and download links.

Ryan's doing Miro, and I think there''s an alternative to handbrake somewhere.
BTW, PatrickPatience here made opensourcewindows.org ;).

Actually, Patrick didn't make it, it just sat inactive for a really long time, so Patrick contacted the site owner and asked for permission to fix it up.

does patrick still have write privileges to the site? because there are plenty of apps that i think should be added.
He does, there's a lot in the works and he gets about 40 e-mails a week for new apps to add to the site (tho some are repeats)
Give him a chance to get it all under control, then send your ideas along.

Plus you have to understand that OSW is meant to showcase the best Open Source Freeware, so he is probably sorting through all of the requests and deciding which apps make the grade.
Failure is not an option. It comes bundled with Windows.
Just use the contact form on the site, I filter those to refer to while updating the site. I know there's tons of great ones that should be added, and some not so good ones that should be removed.
Yea, Ryan is in contact (or should be) with the Miro developers. Handbrake needs .NET 2.0.
why not just handle it himself? I mean, it's just a few entries in the registry, %HomePath%\Local Settings\Participary culture foundation\ , and it's own folder... That's it. I found some nice sims to do :0

There's issues with it that don't work very well portably. And the the Miro developers are interested in a portable version, too, so they said they'll help him with any thing that will make it more portable.
Miro just seems like it would be kind of pain in the butt to make portable, simply because of all the features that it has. Same with Songbird, in my opinion.

It's actually pretty easy, but there's one little bug blocking it. Also, the developers haven't contacted me back yet.
"If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate."
And the person who has ported Miro to U3 (Will Kahn-Greene) seeks for developers to port Miro as a portable application, dear Mr. Ryan McCue, we depend on you:) see:

Please could you make Miro portable:) best wishes..
