How about a thread that lists all apps that have been previously requested and can't be made portable for one reason or another. This may make it less likely for new members to re-request apps.
Anyone who could assist in the compilation of this list could do so, if this idea were to be enacted.
we already talked about this. Most people wouldn't check it at all, like when somebody requested for a portable ClamWin...

Well it would be worth making imo, because I think it'd be viewed just as many times as the post saying what not to request. People look at that post don't they? How about incorporating the Already Requested List into that post
Failure is not an option. It comes bundled with Windows.
"People look at that post don't they?"
No
But it could be a good idea for a sticky that we could just refer the poster back to with a link. Someone would have to keep it updated of course.

Things have got to get better, they can't get worse, or can they?
People requesting apps won't look at the list for the same reason that they don't look at stickied guidelines, etc.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
bring out the big (and annoying) guns!!!
Time to make the popup for the request apps submit topic!!!!!!!!!
Please?

John,
My thought was NOT that the requester would read it
]
[We know that's not gonna happen
It was that WE could find it quickly and link to it in reply to a request. This would also save us the time of having to do a search too hard before replying and writing a reply which sometimes not, shall we say, up to par

do what I'm doing... ignore those requests... somebody else will answer...
If a packet hits a pocket on a socket on a port,
and the bus is interrupted as a very last resort,
and the address of the memory makes your floppy disk abort,
then the socket packet pocket has an error to report
that idea.

we could have a HUGE FRIENDLY button that says something like... "Click ME to request your favourite app"
Which would lead on to a series of pages such as, "First check that your app isn't in this list that are in development", then a "Now check that it isn't in this list that CANNOT be done", and then on to a specialised form that asked them to fill out the name, the web page, the licence type, etc. At the end of which it could make the post.
But then, that would probably end up needing a whole Drupal module to do it, and I doubt that any of the devs have the time to spend (waste) on it
(I know I don't, or I'd volunteer).
like licenses, people will go to the bottom of the page and just press "next"...

Step 1. Type in the name of your app. No go until you type it in and get an okay
Step 2. Fill out the form.
