Hello,
I'm a first year student for computer science, and haven't written anything more sophisticated than a QBASIC "Hello World" program.
I got the NSIS downloaded and want to make a launcher for the program "GalaxyForge".
GF is a map editor for the new hit game Sins of a Solar Empire, which has been released to the public (as freeware I believe). Anyway, it's a relatively small file (installer DLs at 2.8MB) and doesn't require an installation of the game to work. So I thought that would be a great thing to have portable so I can design custom maps from any computer and then load them up when I get home to my sweet Sins.
Anyway, my question is: are there any places other than viewing other people's source to get a tutorial on NSIS scripting? And when I make a launcher do I make it from scratch, or do I need to examine the actual program itself for registry entries etc. first?
Any help would be appreciated.
check out my PAF Specs. There is also the manual (I'll post as soon as I get a chance). Yes, you can use regshot to find stuff like reg entries and appdata folders.
NSIS is really easy.

Turns out, it's not installed, it's just extracted from a zip file and runs locally in the directory. I put it on my flash drive in the portable apps folder and it loads up in the Menu automatically. The only thing I can see making a PAF file for it would be to add a splash screen *shrug* guess I'll have to pick a different program to get my feet wet with
What about Spybot Search & Destroy? Its a great antispyware program, and it's free.
