Firefox 3 - final this june

Apparently, Mozilla has pretty much finished work with FF3. The RC is supposed to be out in May, with the final release set for June. This means we'll probably have FF3 portable in the first half of summer. Smile The countdown is on...

(Portable)Firefox 3 Beta 4 is very stable and good

I am not waiting for the final version till then. I am using the beta version Firefox3 Beta4. Infact, I have used the portable version of this beta and I find it to be very stable and good.

Though, I would be very happy to use the final product Smile

I have

both versions of FF portable, the beta & 2.x, on my portableapps drive, although I use the stable version for most of my browsing. I find the FF3 beta quite stable, compared to the IE8 or Safari 3 betas, which have been quite buggy for me.
I am finding the browser competition quite interesting right now. Microsoft releasing an IE8 beta so early after IE7 (compared to the difference between IE6 and IE7) and Apple opening up Safari to windows users proves that a new "browser war" is heating up.

Let the Browser Wars begin

Agreed, that there is a "browser war" heating up. And, in my mind, I have no doubts that, the undisputed king of browsers is currently The Mozilla Firefox. It is that good right now. There are some minor modifications which I want to see eventually in it though,

Better luck next time to IE and Safari (cough cough...)

Agreed.

Firefox is undeniably the best browser yet. I used IE on Windows 95 because the only other option was Netscape, and that wasn't much better. It was awful. Period. 56k dialup didn't make it much better. Then came XP and IE6, the king of security problems.
Today, I have 10mb broadband and use Firefox & Thunderbird on my portable drive, and I haven't had any problems since.

It's way too bold statement. It highly depends on your needs. IMO Opera is better unless you use addons extensively.

Of course

Of course 'undeniably' is an overstatement, but it seems the vast majority of tech geeks prefer Firefox, which makes sense. The fact that it's open source alone makes it much more attractive. Plus the features, the add-ons, the security, etc. Sure, it has its faults, but it's definitely my browser of choice.

Opera is closed and I'm a bit leery of it after the way they reacted to the whole Firefox vulnerability disclosure (read: not the way a security-minded company should react). And I was a paid Opera user back in the day.

And Apple apparently has such a low opinion of Safari on Windows that they're trying to sneak it onto PCs via Apple Software Update... which speaks volumes. Smile

I was just being enthusiastic!

Yeah, err, I saw this... It happens to be on my PC, alongside Quicktime & iTunes. I actually got it 'cause I just wanted to see how it worked (and it happened to be really buggy), but I have only used it once. I should probably get rid of it sometime.
