user preference is not able to be saved.

Just upgraded to 1.5.0.3 and found out that the customization is not be able to be saved. I picked small icon setting on the toolbar, but it kept resetting back to big icon. Any fix?

Another issue is I found out it is ignoring PortableFirefox.ini which I created and saved in the same directory with the exe.

Works fine

I just fired up a base install of Portable Firefox 1.5.0.3. The ini was picked up fine (I know because I used AllowMultiple) and the pref change to show small icons worked just fine betweek sessions.

There were some issues with the INI in PFF 1502. If you used that and allowed FF to upgrade, you'd still have those issues.

Humm....

Are you suggesting I install 1.5.03 from fresh?

I have AllowMultiple set to false, but I can open more many.

Yes

Grab a default copy of FF1503. I wasn't saying use AllowMultiple... I was just saying that's what I was using to verify the INI was working.

Details, please

I just upgraded to 1.5.3 following the installation instructions and now can't save any preferences. Specifically, custimizations to the toolbar don't stick from session to session. Also, I can't get ANY of the search engines to show up no matter what I do. I'm assuming that I have a bad resource file somewhere but have exhausted my options as far as I can tell.

Upgrade process from 1.5:
Moved my entire PFF folder from the thumb drive to my HD
Copied the contents of the new installation zip to the thumb drive
Copied the contents of my old Profile to data/profile
Copied the contents of my old plugins folder to data/plugins

Any suggestions?

Delete?

Did you delete the contents of data\profile 1st? If not, try that.

If you did... it could be an extension issue or something similar. Try removing your extensions.cache file (save a copy) and delete your XUL.mfl and see how it runs. If that fails, you may need to rebuild your profile, which is a bit annoying. Essentially... start with a fresh PFF profile... add in your bookmarks.html, cookies.txt, cert8.db, history.dat, formhistory.dat, key3.db, localstore.rdf, mimetypes.rdf, secmod.db... and then reinstall your extensions and reconfigure your settings. Not fun, but it's a sure fire way to freshen up any FF profile.

All Better - thanks

I blew away my new installation and started over from scratch. I got rid of all the rdf files, copied extensions & search stuff wholesale and then did a directory compare of the old & new profile directories. I figured out that when I copied everything from the old profile, I messed up the file that listed where everything was. Merging the old with the new worked much better than just copying the old files over.

Thanks for your help.
