I just tried installing it and I get this nsis error:
Installer integrity check has failed. Common causes include incomplete download and damaged media. Contact the installer's author to obtain a new copy.
I have re-downloaded and got the same error.
I can't get a good download. Is the server having trouble?
Thank for testing it guys, I'm re-uploading it, it's gonna take around 10 minutes.
Edit: The file should be fixed now.
I tried it and it worked initially, but when I tried to re-start Task Coach, I got the following error:

SyntaxError: EOL while scanning single-quoted string
I copied and pasted this error out of the TaskCoach.exe.log
I'm running Vista Ultimate SP1,
P4 2.4Ghz
2GB ram
BFG Tech Geforce 7300GT 512MB video card
I'm on Vista right now, and I was having a couple issues with it too. At first I thought it might be compression, but it didn't seem like it when I checked. I won't be back on my computer until Wednesday, and I don't have much time until then anyways. So I'll try to check into it then unless someone else can.
Your MD5 does not match. Did u update it.
Never curse the alligator till you done cross the bridge.
I'll check it.
Looks good works well.
amm u changed it. it still does not match. lol
Never curse the alligator till you done cross the bridge.
Okay, what's the MD5?
PreRelease 2 looks good here. Nothing left behind that I can see. I had little use for this program before two weeks ago when we were informed that all requests to revise/improve our maintanence manuals had to be time tracked. That day, I download Task Coach portable (since I can't install on work computer) and life has been grand. Now, if I can only remember to always start it when I'm working on these requests instead of having to go back and and edit the effort later.
Looking forward to the release. Thanks for getting this program in PA format.
Thanks for testing, and glad you like it.
The language check code is incorrect and won't work. PortableApps.comLocaleglibc uses the language codes from GIMP, etc. So, Spanish is just es... not es_ES. For the full list, just look in GIMP Portable's App\gimp\share\locale directory. If Task Coach uses the form es_ES for everything, you could handle them specially:
Just be sure they all match up to valid codes used by Task Coach. We'll need another pre-release to ensure it's working.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Thanks. I'll get that fixed up tonight.
John, is this okay for the language settings?
I changed the Chinese and Portuguese, etc, to +2 to keep it all consistent.
Thanks.
Yes, it looks right to me based on the way I believe Task Coach stores language. But change the last 2 back (no need for multiple lines)...
StrCmp $APPLANGUAGE "zh_CN" SetAppLanguage
is fine.Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
I just wanted to keep is consistent throughout. I'll update it shortly.
Task Coach Portable has been updated to Pre-Release 3 to fix language setting errors.
I just tried pre-release 3, and and I'm getting a Task Coach file error message on start up.
It will start up fine if I don't have anything saved, but once I've saved it I get the following error box pop up:

G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:
G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:
G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:G:backup = False because it doesn't exist
Then I get a second message referring me to see the log file 'G:\portableapps\taskcoachportable\app\taskcoach\taskcoach.exe.log' for details.
The log file is pretty much identical to the one I got in pre-release 2, except it repeats the information a couple times (probably from me trying to duplicate the error) and mentions the following error:
SyntaxError: EOL while scanning single-quoted string
I've hung on to the log file if you need it.
I have also deleted and did a fresh install with the same effect
I also noticed when I ran ccleaner registry cleaner afterwards there was a unused file extension of .tsk which is the same one that task coach uses, and I don't have the non portable version installed.
The installer asks you to associate .tsk, so I didn't think it would have done anything.
Would you mind testing a local install of Task Coach please? Maybe it's something to do with compression.
I've just tried a local install (I didn't bother associating the extension) and it worked without a problem after saving a test task.
Thanks. If you get a chance, try copying C:\Program Files\Task Coach\*.* to TaskCoachPortable\App\TaskCoach removing any files in that directory please.
Thanks.
I did like you asked and copied all the files over and I got the exact same error message.
I may have a solution. Give me a few.
Edit: This'll change the saving directory, but try this launcher:
http://nascent-project.org/portableapps/downloads/TaskCoachPortable.exe
I've just tried it again, and I got the same error, both with the portable version and non-portable files I copied over. Mind you I changed the default save directory to the documents folder on the drive, that might have had something to do with it. I'll reinstall it and try it with the default save directory and see how that works out.
EDIT: I've just tried it using the default directory and it gave the same error message
Wanna try, or have you tried using a local install, and seeing if you have the same issue please?
I tried it before when I had chosen a different save directory, and I tried it now with the standard save directory.
Both gave the same error message.
Thanks. I'll go check if it's been reported.
I thought you wanted me to copy the local copy to my usb drive, but I realize now that you meant saving a test task in my local install
I just tried that now and it worked the way it's supposed to.
Now I'm out of ideas.
hi all,
first thanks Patrick for you effort.
Should I give the pre release a whirl or will 0.69.2 come soon? I could give it a try on Mon.
It depends on millarp. I need him to try that launcher to see if compression is the problem. When he gets back to me, then we'll see.
I would appreciate if you could give it a test when you get a chance.
Sorry about that Patrick.
I didn't notice that you posted an updated launcher until now.
I'll test it tonight after work.
Hi Patrick,
I installed Task_Coach_Portable_0.69.2_PRERELEASE3.paf.exe and gave it a whirl.
First start was OK, no problems.
For the 2nd start I copied the settings from my 0.69.1 release to the new settings folder, result was the following error message:
I then deleted the settings files in folder ..\Data\settings\ started again and all was fine, been using it all day yesterday.
No problems there, no errors, no crash.
This morning I started up again and the error was similar to yesterday.
Traceback (most recent call last):
I just checked the TaskCoach.ini and found a not really correct last file name
Do you know about that?
[wrapped lines - moderator PP]
This is pretty weird. Would you mind trying out a local install for a bit and let me know if you run into the same problem, please?
I'm just curious...is y: the drive letter that was assigned by the computer you were using?
I've been getting a similar message to that but instead of listing a bunch of "y:"s my error lists a bunch of "g:"s, and g: is the drive letter that was assigned to my usb drive
If that's the case, I'll look into it.
I can confirm that, my USB stick is drive Y:.
Should I still try a full install? I would rather not, as its a work PC thus the portable apps
Until I get home it will be a while, can someone else jump in?
That should do it. Knowing that that's your drive letter, I should be able to find the problem now. Thanks.
I've just started using TaskCoach Portable, and it seems great but one thing doesn't seem to be working, for me at least. According to the program features list..
# Tasks can be created by dragging an e-mail message from Outlook or Thunderbird onto a task viewer.
# Attachments can be added to task by dragging and dropping files, e-mail messages from Outlook or Thunderbird, or URL's onto a task.
... which if it worked would be a very nice feature. (I get lots of emailed bug reports and feature requests etc..) URLs dragged from Firefox work fine, however dragging a mail item from Thunderbird Portable seems to do nothing. After each attempted drag+drop I get this in my taskcoach.exe.log file:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "widgets\draganddrop.pyo", line 76, in OnData
File "mailer\thunderbird.pyo", line 203, in getMail
File "mailer\thunderbird.pyo", line 125, in __init__
File "mailer\thunderbird.pyo", line 39, in getDefaultProfileDir
ValueError: No default section in profiles.ini
Thanks
Edit: I'm also getting the corrupted filename in the .ini file error that others have reported above. In my case I have copied my USB contents into a local dir on my C: drive and I can confirm that for me the bad file name is "C:C:C:C.." etc
Try the latest version please, because I just tested it portable to portable and it works fine for me.
Thanks.
With PR2 I ran into that issue and I just downgraded back to PR1. When you get that bug figured out I'll upgrade and try it out.
I'll look into that Thursday night or Friday.
Task Coach Portable has been updated to fix the bug others were having with drive letter updating. If I could have this double checked that would be fantastic. Task Coach will also now automatically set the save directory to the Documents directory on your drive if it exists.
Will check it out right now. Thanks for the work on this. Looking forward to the release.
Edit: Looks good so far for a quick check. All major parts work well. Nothing left behind. No errors. Will give it a little bit more thorough run in a bit.
I've just tested it uneder Vista Ultimate SP1 and XP Pro SP2, and it works under both of them.
I had to delete the old one first of course.
could't find anything obvous left behind either
I did notice something in the app\taskcoach directory I wanted to ask about...are unis000.exe and unins000.dat needed?
Thanks so much for all the time you've spent testing millarrp, and to everyone else that tested!
No, you're right, they're not needed, thanks for catching those.
Updated to pre-release 5 to remove uninstall files caught by millarrp.
Just had the chance to do a test of Pre-Release 5 in Vista Ultimate SP1, and it works without leaving anything obvious behind
Thanks so much millarrp. You're not even on the beta testing team, and you've tested more apps than a lot of the people that are. Although you don't do in-depth checks, it's really handy when you do catch something like you did for Task Coach.
Thanks very much millarrp.
no problems during normal use from my side. seems to work well.
Starting in the portableapps document folder works as well
Is this good to go guys?
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
I think it is. I've had no issues, and it seems that millarrp's issues are now solved too
The developer formerly known as ZGitRDun8705
All of the issues I had were resolved in pre-release 4
As long as you don't see a problem with doing SetOutPath $DOCUMENTDIR when it exists, as it will change the default save and open directory. I think that's all it changes, it's be running fine with it.
Some software doesn't like having its working directory changed. Some doesn't care.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
That's why I was curious. But it's been running fine for me.
working fine for me so
go, don't stop, go
Gotta say, thank you very much for testing as well.
