I just logged on and noticed the new forum icons.(they look very pretty, btw)
Anyways, I was just wondering if the icons were the only things changed about the forum, or if there were other, more subtle changes included as well?
Just curious...

Yea, John updated them. I think that's the only thing. I love them.
agreed
Na na na, come on!
am I the only one that doesn't like the new icons *grumble* I will have to stick to exclusively to the tracker now
No, you're not.
I'm thinking about a greasemonkey script to fix them...Anybody got a link to the old ones?

OMG CHANGE... OH NOOES!
Honestly, it's just forum icons. Breath. And live with it for a week or two.
Besides, folders make more sense than envelopes for representing forum topics in my opinion.

Yes, I also hope that I'll get used to them. This is why I didn't search for the icons already.
About folders, you're probably right, but I still like the previous icons more.

I like the icons (only need to get costumed). The only thing I would do is to change the hue for a reddish tone, that is more with this site. Beside that they are great.
I'm already playing with a red hued version. Maybe tomorrow.

Well... cool!
I don't care for them, to much red.
O well.

It was just a quick change of the standard Drupal icons into something that fit better with the look of the site. Following on to the look of the app directory, they're from the Tango icon set. The default no unread, hot no unread and hot unread icons are modifications of Tango icons done by me. The others are unmodified Tango icons. And it fixes the issues with IE6 not being able to display the icons correctly as well for users who are stuck using broken IE.

The new icons are fine.
My only complaint is that it's harder to visually scan for threads with new posts as the icon for read vs unread is too similar.
My "reading ergonomics" of the forums is to open the two dev forums, scan for news threads or threads with new posts, open those in a new tab. If there aren't any, I move along.
I don't know which icon is which to scan for now.

I agree, I've had that problem too, as much as I love them. Maybe if the read folders were turned grayscale, it would be easier. I think the Stickied posts make it much more easier for new users to distinguish and possibly read what needs to be read.
having unread threads appear in our beloved PortableApps.com red?

better now
what the hell happened to all the cool new icons! i loved them and now they are all gone and back to the boring yellow and grey ones. if we wanted the site to be more boring, we should just make the entire thing monochrome!

try hitting F5 or Ctrl+R while your browser is up.....i have all the new icons, but I had to do a refresh to get them to show up.

that works but there is no point, they should show up the first time. i am thinking that john hasent finalized the theme set so it may switch between the two.

if the pages you are visiting are cached, the icons won't show up until you do a refresh, that's just the way it works.

Do what Zach said. Or, if you use Firefox, go to "Tools" > "Clean Private Data", be sure that in the next window at least the "Cache" is selected, then press OK.
Totally right.
