On my laptop, I have a proxy script which ensures that wherever I connect to a network, even inside a corporate firewall, then Firefox works completely automatically. I'm trying to do the same for firefox portable - the same as in "completely automatic", with zero clicks or key-presses - and the thing that's stopping me is the drive letter problem.
I know about the proxy-switcher plugin - this doesn't appear to give complete automation.
I also found info about putting the pac script in the firefox app folder and using resource:/// but to me this is an ugly solution.
How can I put a relative path into the firefox setting for "Automatic Proxy Configuration URL:", so I can keep my script in my choice of location?
I'm no expert, but perhaps you could modify the launcher script to edit the absolute path in your PAC file each time FF Portable is run.
how does the launcher script pass the path? Does it go into a variable?
Look in .\FirefoxPortable\Other\FirefoxPortableSource\FirefoxPortable.nsi

I looked in .\FirefoxPortable\Other\FirefoxPortableSource\FirefoxPortable.nsi
and I can imagine it would help a programmer.
I had a go. I found a stack of variables. None of them work by entering them into the path of the URL in Options / Settings / automatic proxy configuration.
Surely someone has done this.....? It's got to be easy, surely?
