I Think

He's saying he want out portable apps to run on the iPhone, but I might be wrong. Title throws me off, too.

I think you're right.

But what kind of idiot would share an iPhone? Even if there is, you would need major hacking/reprogramming it before you can even get a 'non-portable' app.

Share?

Share?

I'm not sure what you mean by "share", the OP did not say anything about sharing, it just seems he wants to run some of the apps from his Iphone.

Still,
"you would need major hacking/reprogramming"

Very very true!
I would guess this would require the same amount of work that would be needed to make PAs run from a mac or windows mobile Sad

Anyway, ._net, Welcome to PortableApps.com Smile

Tim

[edit: Unless he means using the Iphone as a portable hard drive, but I don't think that's what he means?]

Things have got to get better, they can't get worse, or can they?

iphone

what i meant was to be able to get and run PA via the the appstore http://developer.apple.com/iphone/program/. I've heard a lot of people say they would love to have OpenOffice or GIMP on their Iphone.

P.S. and thanks for the warm welcome.

Good idea, but

It's a good idea, but I think it isn't common enough. I believe the site is currently working on PA for Linux, and if that were done, I think Macintosh would be next. Also, this would require big programing. On this site, we take apps that already run natively on the system and make them portable. Unless there are any good open source apps for the I-Pod and I-Phone, it would take HUGE amounts of programing and coding to make them work with I-Pod. Still, it was a good idea.

ajax

well it seems to me that some of the reasons for having PA is running your apps on any computer. So therefore if PA was made into an Ajax web application it could run on any machine anywhere regardless of its OS, and Sun said it would develop Java for the Iphone.
