Application: AutoIt
Category: Development
Description: Okay this is for the devlopers. I know it's not opensources that's why it isn't labeled a development test, does not have the dev splash, and does not have a PAM launcher. For those of you that don't know AutoIt is a handy programing language. Until I have a finished GUI menu made (using autoit of course) when ran AutoIt Portable will open up the WindowInfo tool. I also added context menus so when you right click a .au3 file you can choose edit, compile, ect. ect.. If you have Notepad++ portable on your thumb drive then clicking on edit will open the .au3 file into Notepad++. (Right Click to download.)

cool, good job but autoit is closed source, so i think you'll have to release the launcher only. You can release a full package of AutoHotkey though.
Edit: of course the autoit license seems to be okay with people redistributing it in "parts" of the whole so i think you "should" be able to post it here.
It can be distributed so long as it's unmodified. I'm waiting on a response email from the author.

repackaging is a modification though

But can't the author say if its okay?

he can, but u still can't use the PortableApps.com installer with it, and it prolly wouldn't become official for quite some time, and u would prolly still have to remove the link, like all the other freeware apps, even if the person did have the author's permission.

Here's the final word until I get my email back here is what it says in the license
Copies of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT may be distributed as a standalone product or included with your own product.
But did anyone test it??
Release Team Member
Well maybe not OSI approved license but AutoIt3 seems pretty open source to me..
First the source is available
Second, the license http://www.autoitscript.com/autoit3/docs/license.htm
Cheers Jacob. Makes me wonder if you also included the SciTE version for this tol as well?
[edit] i hope you put together an official development test for it
can you provide a link to the source code?
The developer formerly known as ZGitRDun8705
The source code is from an old version.
cowsay Moo
cowthink 'Dude, why are you staring at me.'
If this allowed to be redistributed, why wasn't PortableApps Creator allowed to redistribute it? Why do we need to download it sepratly?

It's not open source. It's freeware. This site does not allow freeware to be posted yet, even if the freeware license says redistribution is ok.

THIS guy is redistributing it with his launcher.

Isn't there a way to run AutoIT portably already?
Somehow, I managed to get it on my USB drive. I think I had to install, then copy, though, or run with a command line switch.

Sic semper tyrannosauro.
But the launcher will create a context menu for .au3 files. And if Notepad++ exists then it can open the .au3 inside of it.

Had trouble downloading Autoit Portable. When I clicked on the link a website came up and a bunch of letters were on it and would not stop loading.

It looks like Patrick took his site down in my absence. I'm just coming back from an extended break from PA.c... If there's still interest in the app I'll post an update sometime soon.

I was wondering if a launcher was going to be made of this. And if it is not already up to date, update it.

First off commands aren't appreciated. Secondly it already is a launcher just leave the frozen window open. Thirdly it is up to date.

Sorry about that, didn't know.

Now, if PA.c works with freeware, it can be good idea to make AutoIt3 portable. It need some launcher to have all features and tools in one place.
Bumping this thread... Is there any reason why we can't do this now that PortableApps allows commercial apps?
Also, there's a 7-zip SFX installer that doesn't set anything up on the system (registry, shortcuts, etc) - it could be used similar to how Chrome Portable's installer downloads Chrome from Google first.
Here's the link: http://www.autoitscript.com/cgi-bin/getfile.pl?autoit3/autoit-v3-sfx.exe

Now that PortableApps is compiling Freeware software, is there any chance that there might be a PAL version of AutoIT v3.
If no one is looking at this, then I am happy to do so, as I use it regularly and would benefit from a PAL version.
However, if one is already under way, I don't want to duplicate work in progress.
Cheers,
Barry.
