Do I HAVE to use Portabilizer to get Java functionality?

I've been away from Portable Apps for a while, but now that I'm back and excited to give 2.4 a go, I'm wondering if I must use Portabilizer to get the JRE functionality of features like Base. From what I've read here, it seems that Portabilizer is not fully supported, so if I can use the Java features of OO Portable without it, that might be preferable. Thanks!

The portabaliser

is an easy way to copy the locallly installed Java files to your drive so you can use the Java-needing features even on a PC that doesnt have Java. I think OpenOffice looks at the local PC if he has Java, uses it if its there but if it isnt there he checks your drive.
