Ok i was wondering if i could install and make a start menu icon for portable applications that are not on this site and how i would go about doing that i have tried once but was not able to get it to work properly any help would be greatly appreciated

On the page where you can download the menu, there is a "Support" section and there you'll find a link that reads Adding Apps to the PortableApps Menu. That one links to a description about how to make any exe appear in the menu.
The short version is: just put the exe in a folder in your X:/PortableApps/ folder.

See the problem i have is when i extract the portable software it comes with more files then just a exe. So would i be able to actually just put the exe into a folder and it be operation? I checked the site that you had offered but i couldnt get it right. Thanks for your help its much appreciated.

If there is only one .exe in the program subfolder/dir mentioned above:
X:\PortableApps\YourAppFolder
Just put everything in there and you should have what you want. Only the .exe should show up. If it has more than one .exe that would show up as well though.
