This has been released. Thanks for testing!
https://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/clamwin_portable
I've just posted a pre-release of ClamWin Portable 0.93. This new version uses an updated version of the MS VC runtime files internally with a new manifest file, so I wanted to post it as a pre-release to ensure it's working as expected for all users including upgrades.
Download ClamWin Portable 0.93 Pre-Release 1 [6MB download / ~21.5MB installed]
(MD5: d99addf553beacafa1d906e74a05a190)
I haven't updated the icon or splash to the new ones yet but will for the final release.
Please test and post your feedback.
Regards,
John

Things have got to get better, they can't get worse, or can they?
UpGrade does Not Seem to Acknowledge the presence of current definition files. Updated them just before the upgrade.
It is asking to update, should I proceed??
or try fresh upgrade from backup copy of former install?
I await instructions.
In the fresh install I just copied them in after the program prompted [first closing CWP of course]
Also, previous preferences have NOT been kept.
This may change after the update of defs is allowed, I don't know.

after upgrade first start prompts for downloading new database, ok made an easy update, maincvd is kept, other definitions are replaced by the recent daily cvd.
Cleans database folder from a lot of older files.Nice

Will wait a little while longer to see how John wants me to proceed. If I don't hear anything shortly I will allow the database updating.
Glad to hear about main.cvd being kept, that was my concern, wouldn't want to have to download it again when updating at home.
"Cleans database folder from a lot of older files."
That will be temporary till the next daily.inc

no problems after upgrading from 0.92, also works fine together with automemscan and Clamwinportableupdater.

did it tell you ?
"You have not yet downloaded Virus Definition Database. Would you like to download it now?
Did you have any previous personalized setting?
If so, are they still there?

but as You ask, two checked boxes aren´t checked anymore, so perhaps personal settings are replaced, too. But there are minor changes in the preferences gui anyway, so it should be recommended to review the settings anyway

Yes, of course we should double check the settings,
After all, were testers
But if we determine that they are infact reset, John needs to inform on the update page that this is the case, for the non-testers.

Things have got to get better, they can't get worse, or can they?
Confirmed changes
When upgrading ClamWin[p] will prompt:
"You have not yet downloaded Virus Definition Database. Would you like to download it now?
Even if you have most current databases.
It will keep main.cvd if it is current.
It will download daily.cvd even if daily.inc is current
Previous "preferences" are lost and will need to be re-entered.
Tested on admin account.
"temp" dir is clear on normal exit

Registry NOT checked beyond search for "clam",
I'm finding some things that may have been there from a long time ago
From possible local ClamWin install, will try fresh install on fresh machine.
Back shortly,
EDIT:
Fresh install on new machine [admin]:
search of registry for "clam" yeild no results other than MUICache

The installer doesn't change the definitions or settings. I think the definitions have changed with 0.93 (it's happened with major ClamWin revisions in the past). The same may be true of the prefs. Please check a local ClamWin upgrade to be sure (I'm on my Treo at Pike's Place Market at the moment).
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
tested a portable 0.92 , upgraded it : before first start settings and db were in the data folder and unchanged. After first start and download prompt daily.inc was removed, dailycvd most recent and settings were put to default.

Negative
"I think the definitions have changed with 0.93"
Negative, fresh install with launch prompts for getting defs.
Say, "NO", close.
Copy current main.cvd and daily.cvd into new install,
Launch CWP,
Copied main.cvd and daily.cvd are accepted as current.
Check for updates yields data base is up to date.
Ergo dats are unchanged.
It just wants to check on upgrade, not a major problem if your main.cvd is up to date.
Edit:
The above appears to be incorrect [see below]
A new daily.cvd is downloaded so that at the NEXT update the new format can kick in
--
"may be true of the prefs"
it seems so, again, no biggie as long as we tell people they may need to reset their prefs.
--
"Please check a local ClamWin upgrade to be sure"
Negative, don't have a local install of ClamWin, sorry , perhaps someone else. Really don't want to install local ClamWin on this machine.

Things have got to get better, they can't get worse, or can they?
The database have indeed changed - clamav stopped using .inc folders and replaced them with .cld files. Therefore .inc are removed and new database downloaded as main.cvd and daily.cvd. Then upon an incremental db update the cvd files are extracted merged with a adiff file and become .cld.
Because of this we (clamwin) did not make a small (incremntal) update of clamwin and ship the full installer with both main.cvd and daily.cvd included.
So that explains why the daily.cvd is downloaded fresh, even if the daily.inc is up to date. I guess that makes sense.
I will try an update of the new version as soon as they/you release a new, a new, ??? I don't even know what to call it, an inc/cld/addf ??

Things have got to get better, they can't get worse, or can they?
In .093 updating
a daily.cvd is no longer extracted into a daily.inc Folder and updated by the .diff
A daily.cvd becomes a daily.cld (single file) after update.
Thank you Alch and welcome to PortableApps.com,

Two small things in my line of work. There's still a splash fade of 200, and remove the version number from the readme.
I just tested in vista ultimate sp1 as an upgrade, and besides wanting to download the main virus definitions from scratch (which I didn't find too big of deal), I haven't found any obvious problems.
