Application: SpeedCrunch
Category: Utilities
Description: SpeedCrunch is a sweet calculator with some awesome features. It has a beautiful interface with syntax highlighting, history of expression (up down like in the command prompt), unlimited variables, and much more. If that's more than you need, don't let it scare you away. SpeedCrunch has a very simple interface for performing any simple math.

Development Test 1 (2008-04-17): Initial release
- This will delete your old settings as they are in a different format (registry) and it's only a development test. - this is assuming I got the filename right
Edit: looks good here

I just tested it in Vista Ultimate SP1, and with the exception of the = key not working (which I duplicated in the non-portable version) I wasn't able to find any obvious problems.
The = button doesn't work in xp or 2k either.
This application works great and seems to be packaged correctly.
Good job!

Yea i noticed that too. I am guessing it is the program itself and should be fixed in an update.
Never curse the alligator till you done cross the bridge.
Full test with wine from install to run and it works with no error. All settings in the right dir. It gets my approval.
Good Job Patrick Patience.

Same issue with the "=" button here
There will be a small maintenance release from the author coming sometime soonish.
That's all I could catch. This one is really nice :). (I didn't test until now because I felt like finding the sine of e)

GPL 3 would cause me some issues as parts of Toucan are under GPL 2, and I believe that you can't mix the two.
for a shortcut to a website.
I thought you were smart enough to know this!

he knows what a .url file is. he said there are no .url files in his package, so he was asking what the heck your first item on the list is talking about.
Edit: I see it now. It's the shortcut to the SpeedCrunch website in /App/SpeedCrunch. Why would this belong in /Other, it's part of the base app package. Also, the other day you said I needed to move the /App/MoneyManagerEX/help folder to /Other. Why? It's the help for the base app, not the PortableApps.com help file. Do you look at the data these folders/files actually contain?

But it's not just a wrapper for the base app; it's an edition.
To me, since that readme.txt under App is there, it makes sense to put the stuff that the user will access often/occasionally should go into the other folder, were all the user friendly-ish stuff is.

...that were in the 0.9 release: configuration options for fonts, colors etc.

i just went to their googlecode page and saw that they released 0.10.1 three days ago and i assume it fixes that bug. http://speedcrunch.googlecode.com/files/SpeedCrunch-0.10.1.zip
I had checked the main site Monday, but not Google code.
Other than this update, are you thinking this is ready? If so, I'll put a splash together for it.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
I'm workin' on the update right now. I don't have any other changes, and no one has reported any bugs besides the now fixed ='s bug.
Can you find a bigger version of the logo from their website? I think it's an open source icon set buut can't figure out which one. It isn't used in the app itself, though (it only has a single blocky icon and then a 48px icon which is used for the actual icon on the running window).
UPDATE: Aha! Found it...

I also made 2 from Everaldo's Crystal set

Me likes that one better.
How about we get in touch with the author and get the site, app and portable app in sync on whatever one they decide on?
The splash is ready when the decision is made.

That sounds good to me. I've noticed the app icon is quite old and ugly. When I first made the crystal set, patrick contacted one of the authors and he said he'd rather get a custom made icon, but definitely wanted something better. This was back when SpeedCrunch was 0.7 I believe.
The developer formerly known as ZGitRDun8705
About that.
I originally contacted him about the icon a while back. He said he doesn't really wanna use Zach's merge, because he wants something original. He said one of the Oxygen artists had made an icon, but he still isn't using it. NeoRame made two different icons for him, both very nice, but I think they were more than he wanted.
Here is the latest, from the 18th of last month:

No hi-res. I'll speak to a guy and ask him if he has pixmap
capabilities (he works with 3D), so let's see...
So I'll contact him once more and see what the case is.
Alright, I spoke to the author. The 0.10.1 release isn't official yet, but will be Monday. He said he'd rather have an original logo, and he may have a contest for that, but we can use the Everaldo merge until something better comes.
That sounds like a plan to me. Can you request that he also uses the Everaldo merge as the compiled in image for the about screen and the icon? This will keep a uniform look, and should be simple to replace once he gets a custom icon

SpeedCrunch Portable has been updated to version 0.10.1. Please test it out if possible to assure everything still works correctly.
I've just tried it with vista ultimate SP1, and I haven't had any problems with it so far, and can't see anything obvious left behind either.
works well for me. changed a lot of options and no Trolltech QT keys were created or anything. i love the interface; my only beef with the program is that it won't let me copy any calculations to the clipboard. you can export to a file but that's a pain and it runs all the numbers together. so in summation i like the look and features of speedcrunch better but graphcalc lets me copy to the clipboard.
Edit: nevermind. i just found that if you double click an answer it will show up on the input bar where you can copy it. i wish that was easier to figure out though. anyways, yay, SpeedCrunch is awesome again
Working great here
