I use TB portable installed on my laptop in C:\ThunderbirdPortable. Sometimes I need a different laptop, so I copy C:\ThunderbirdPortable to a USB disk and then from the USB disk to another laptop (same path), so I can run TBP there.
Each time I do this, TBP rebuilds the folder index for all folders. Why? What could be different between the two laptops - from TBP's point of view - since paths and file dates stay the same?
Regardless, the problem I'm having is that the new indexes seem to be incorrect, some recent messages are missing, and some deleted messages show up in the inbox. Any ideas what could be wrong and how to fix it? Thanks in advance
If they are POP accounts, you need to make sure that you check both boxes under account settings, then Server Settings: "Leave Messages" on the Server and "Delete Messages from the Server when I delete or move them from my inbox".
No, sorry, I forgot to say that I keep all messages on the local PC - I need to. So when I move the TBP folder from PC to PC I move the whole message store. All acconts are POP, they don't leave messages on the server.
