TB_2.0.0.12 : Cannot open safed emails from (C:) > ...

Hello,

I'm VANC56 and new to this forum, hopefully that my request is right on place.
Additionally I would like to thank you very much for that great portable application platform!
I'm very happy about it!

Well, thirst of all some technical dates for you:

- Operating System: VISTA Home Premium 32
- Software installed on OS: Thunderbird and Firefox. Always up-to-date.
- Portable Device: SanDisk Cruzer Titanium USB Flash Drive 4 GB.
- Software installed on SanDisk Cruzer: PortableApps.com Suite.
Naturally with built-in Thunderbird and Firefox and always up-to-date.

What I have done recently:

After having installed the PortableApps.com Suite it occurred to me pressing the update button in Thunderbird. Everything went well. The application works fine. Apparently nothing has changed.

Problem which I face now after Thunderbird's portable update:

I save all my emails with Thunderbird in VISTA Home Premium on its local path.
Say, this one looks like: (C:)> documents > correspondence 1...2...3.

Well, when I use Thunderbird - the local one! - with VISTA and click on a saved email message on the path described above, usually it opens right away in Thunderbird for reading. But now it doesn't! Only Thunderbird starts up without displaying any message. Any suggestion?? In spite of it happening, I can open all my saved emails with the command "open saved message".

Any help would be highly appreciated, thank you for your time!

Greetings, VANC56

Do NOT use the auto-update

Do NOT use the auto-update feature in any of the mozilla apps, it will corrupt a local installation, and redirect all profile and registry settings to the portable version. This is due to a bug in the newer versions of Mozilla's updater, and they are currently working on a fix. You will have to reinstall your local thunderbird install, and it is recommended to download the individual apps you want, because the Suite is very outdated. Also, use the latest beta test release of the menu, it's more stable than the version currently packed with the Suite, and has more features.

Do NOT use the auto-update

Hello ZachHudock,

Thank you so much for your quick and helpful response!!

Just saw the registry files in VISTA. Almost everything is redirected. So I think that it might be a good idea to delete them all before a new setup of Thunderbird and Firefox??
Also, I've installed "the latest beta test release of the menu" on my flash drive. It works nicely!

Relating to the forum's email notification feature, I wasn't adviced at all, although the forum's notification address was put on my email's white list. Perhaps something is going wrong...

Again, thank you for your time!

See you,
VANC56

No

Just reinstall Firefox and Thunderbird (the local versions).
There is no need to delete registry entries as the programms will just create them anew or overwrite if they exist.
