No

Why don't you give a some information about it.

What is it?
What it does?
Where we could find it? [The non-portable version]
Is it Open Source?
Why it would be cool to have a portable version?

Tim

Things have got to get better, they can't get worse, or can they?

Hmm

to me Synergy is a software to allow u to control 2 pc's (could be mac-windowsor-linux or something like that) with one mouse and keyboard and allow them to share a clipboard.

Yeah

That's the first result on Google.

And if that's the case, it's not really a good fit as a portable app. It's made to be used on more than one of your own PCs with specific IP addresses in a specific physical arrangement.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Not suitable for a portable app

i use this app a lot

I use Synergy a lot, but because it's a client-server system that allows something akin to VNC, without admin access you're sort of limited. There's no point making it portable though, as the config is machine-specific.

I just made this. It was easy.

I made this just recently for portable apps, it's based off one of the other apps' source code. So, technically I didn't make it fully, I just modified another one.
If you check the source you'll find some lines from the other program still commented out. Biggrin

It seems to work without any problems, tested it on only 3 computers as of now, 1 with synergy installed, 2 without it.

For now here's a link:
http://www.filedropper.com/synergyportable001alphapaf

Please don't lol at the splash screen, took me hours. xD

Further info

Is this app working and available? Can't find it at the above link - looks like I need to register at filedropper, which I refuse to do since they require billing information to sign up for the "free trial"...

Synergy Client portable

I came looking for a portable Synergy client.
I manage an office network and helpdesk. I often have other peoples' laptops on my desk.

I wanted a statically configured Synergy (portable) client on a network share so that when a laptop lands on my desk I can just launch it and go.

For this, the config doesn't need to change. The server is always the same, and the client's screen name is always 'Righter'
(Left, Center, Right, Righter)

Synergy portable

1- Install the 32 bit windows version.
2- Copy the Synergy folder under program files.
3- Uninstall Synergy
4- Try to run it, you should see an error that says you are missing a dll named "msvcp100.dll", or something similar.
5- Now, download and install ImageMagick-6.7.5-Q16, go to the installation folder and copy "msvcp100.dll" and "msvcr100.dll" (Don't know why, don't really care those libraries work both in 7 and XP) into your Synergy folder
6- Uninstall ImageMagick (optional).
7- Now run synergy again and it should work.
8- Copy Synergy into the client machine
9- Configure it (if you are reading this you probably know how, if you don't, well just google "Configure Synergy")
10- Figure out what "msvcp100.dll" and "msvcr100.dll" do and share it (optional)

Notes:
I have only tested (got it to work) in my personal laptop with Windows 7(64 bit) and my work laptop Windows XP (32 bit) SP3.

Neat

Took me awhile to understand what you were talking about pcastaneda, but it's nothing more than "borrowing" 2 files from one app & putting them into the synergy folder, and for some unknown reason it works.

Theres a portable ver. of ImageMagick too, so you don't even have to install that app if you don't wish too.

thanks pcastaneda
I wish everything worked this easily

DLL Files

msvcp.dll is the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Runtime
msvcr.dll is the Microsoft Visual C 2010 Runtime
