In what is related to make HTML + CSS website, I think I rock am pretty good . But I don't know a thing about client or server side scripting, like Javascript, XML + XLS XSL, or PHP.
So, even though I don't have any content besides a rater almost never updated blog that is not even in English, I would like to know how to make a dynamic site (not blog, site).
So I would like to know where I can find some nice tutorials for using those languages (in preference online), that are somehow recent and do not use deprecated or wrong code.
I also would like to know what is the best platform for making a site. I was thinking of Drupal, that is OSS, maybe.
Plus, which free lodging services do you recommend? I don't mind having some small advertising, but I have zero tolerance to popups. And please, make sure that they are not like sergentsiler's "nice" lodging service.
Tutorial Site:
self.path = path if self.path == None else self.path
It worked well for HTML + CSS, XML too, couldn't learn XLS from there, so I don't know XLS. But I'll try it again.
Blue is everything.
XLS? Do you mean XSL:
self.path = path if self.path == None else self.path
It was the second language I tried to learn trough W3C Schools. The first was XML. I was successful. Then I tired to learn that, failed miserably, couldn't understand a word, but I'll try it again.

I recommend BraveNet http://bravenet.com , or if you prefer, check a whole database at: http://www.free-webhosts.com/
Insert original signature here with Greasemonkey Script.
They look like some great hosting sites. When I create a site with content I'll check them first.

one that works w/ Drupal, I'll make a Portable App just for you!

For XML & XSL I recommend this book to get started:

I bought it and it got me going in the right direction with excellent examples.
Cancer Survivors -- Remember the fight, celebrate the victory!
Help control the rugrat population -- have yourself spayed or neutered!
Looks a good book, it has a lot of stuff. I'll see if I can buy it.

It's a good starter book as it's less than 200 pages (I have the 1st edition). I found it enough info with good examples to get me jump started and then used w3schools and other sites to solve each hurdle as I learned to code XSL.
I NEVER buy one of those "Topic X in 21 days" type books that's thicker than your arm.
You said you're making a "dynamic site" but that's different to everyone. What do you mean by "dynamic" as XML isn't good for normal websites. It's used for presenting data and stuff like that, not normal webpages.

I got it.
Also, I never said I was making , dynamic site, but that I wanted to learn how to do it. So, any tip or language advices are welcome.
So... XML is good for database storage (or something in those lines), am I right?
I am trying to learn JavaScript for my already static sites (made just for fun) first, then it is up to the advices made.

XML is used for data storage. What's good about it is you can malipulate and present the data to the viewer/user in totally different ways using a programming/scripting language like XSL, HTML, Javascript, etc.
For example, you could have an XML file with names, addresses, etc and then add in the lat/long of the location. Using that same XML source file, you could present the info in a table so you could download it into Excel, or you could plot the lat/long on Google maps and have the name/address appear in a popup box.

I recommend x10 hosting for a host.I have my hosting with them, and I'm trying to set up a site.
I think they have the best features I've seen so far: cPanel, PHP, MySLQ, PHPmyAdmin, Fantastico Installer, FTP, Apache, you name it, they've got it, and it's all pre-installed and free. There is an ad free plan available, but I think the best option is the corporate ad-enhanced plan. You need one 468px X 60px ad banner on the top of every page on your site (this is easy to set up with Drupal), and then you can get 2.5 GB of disk space and 45 GB of bandwidth monthly. The only other requirement is that you log in to their forums once every 2 weeks.
I think Drupal is a good idea. I am kind of in the same position as you, and that's what I chose. It's pretty easy to set up and use. I'm trying to set up Drupal on mine, and it's working pretty good. The servers are having some issues right now , but other than that it is working out pretty good.
Well, that's my two cents. Let me know what you think.
It looks great! I don't need the things on the ad hosted version (local site) but if/when I make a webiste, it will be priority!
Never tried anything more than Blogger and WordPress.com (not WordPress). But I though Drupal would be a good try. Thank you very much!
