Twitter?

I can't believe this hasn't already been requested or talked about but I can't find anything in the search.

What I would like to see is a proper portable Twitter app.

I know you can use a add-on for portable Firefox or the IM bot for use with Portable Pidgin, but nether of these offer the features of a dedicated twitter client (such as Twitteroo for example).

I have also searched the web ("Googled") for a 'portable' twitter but haven't been able to find anything which would fit the bill.

If anyone has I am happy to be corrected!

Thanks

Do you have a specific open source application in mind that can directly interface with Twitter, or is this just a general request for something that will work?

You will most likely see quicker results if you can find an open source twitter app, and post back here by editing your current topic to be in this format.

And welcome to PortableApps.com Smile

I'd suggest going through this list, finding out which of the windows clients are open-source and not dependent on the .NET framework. Then test some out and request your favorite.

Hi, Sorry, I didn't have a specific application in mind but will do a bit more research and try to find one. Thanks for your advice.

I was very surprised that I can't find one out there already!

IM / AIR

All the clients I've seen for Windows use Adobe AIR, which itself isn't portable.

I'd suggest using the instant message option and then use Miranda Portable or Pidgin Portable.

Sadly,

Most of the Twitter clients run on Adobe Air, as Ryan said, and even then there are fewer Open Source clients. Jitterapp looks interesting, but it's still in pre-alpha stage, and the current screenshots don't make it look as good as just using the Twitter website or using IM.

Pwytter

I found one! Pwytter is an Open Source client that uses Python. Looks promising. I'll take a look at it today.

Sorry for the ancient bump.

Sorry for the ancient bump. Quick question though: Are Pwytter and Pwytter Portable still being maintained?
