Things have got to get better, they can't get worse, or can they?
Clamwin is the only open source virus scanner i know of and if there's another then it's not any good. for freeware, it would have to be a scanner only (no real time protection) because otherwise it would interfere with installed antiviruses. more than 1 antivirus = problems. if you want some portable virus scanners, do like i do and download some command line scanners and make a batch file to run each of them
Too bad this didn't work, this would have been a small step in the direction of making Clamwin an active scanner, maybe a little competitive with the proprietary a/v scanners out there. (Provided you use Firefox exclusively.)
If I can make Norton or Symantec make it portable, I will be good.
BitDefender, I think it's impossible to make it portable ==
Need Portable Things
a good free portable scanner is Trend Micro Sysclean. http://www.trendmicro.com/download/sysclean.asp download the file, put in it's own folder, download the latest lpt$vpn.XXX and ssaptn.daX pattern files from http://www.trendmicro.com/download/pattern.asp , extract them into the main folder, and then run the .com file.
