Here is my setup. I run Thunderbird portable off of a USB harddrive at work that I synch up with my laptop. Every so often, after a synch the prefs.js gets corrupt. I have figured out how to re-find my profile and emails so I dont lose any emails - but I have to completely re-set all of my prefs and accounts which is a HUGE pain.
SInce this essentially occurs DURING my backup procedure and no prefs.bak is created by Thunderbird portable apps - can anyone think of a simple script or setting that I can do either automatically create a prefs.bak or back this up somewhere else (box.net script???).
Anyway, this takes me about 45 minutes to recover from and is a total pain.
Thanks,
Gordon
as that may be the problem.
For me, I keep the emails I downloaded in the same file structure on my usb and on my home laptop backup, so I just copy the whole profile back and forth, and it doesn't mess w/ my locally saved emails.
Don't be an uberPr∅. They are stinky.
It basically does what you do.
I really have no idea why every so often prefs.js gets killed.
I guess I could just make a copy of it now and call it prefs.bak and just keep it there .... hmmmm, I may have just answered my own question ...
