Can PStart be set to open a document in my portable OpenOffice? I read on the main page that it can thru a command line but I have no idea what that command line would look like.
Thanks, Bill

To use a document file to open a host program, like you want to use a document to open OpenOffice Portable, you will need to somehow associate the file extension with the host program. For installed programs, this is handled by registry entries. In the Beta forums, you will find several attempts to do this for portable apps. One of these is https://portableapps.com/node/13145
I have not tried it myself.
Two other ideas:
- CAFE https://portableapps.com/node/8690
- Open the host program first and then either drag-n-drop the document or use the usual File-Open dialog.
I would also want to be able to do this with CAFÉ but i can't find the way to associate it to PStart...
CAFE is a program. You have to run it in order to use its capabilities. I'd suggest you check the PStart documentation on how to run programs from the PStart menu. Sorry, I played with Pstart once over a year ago and decided to stay with PAM mods. BTW, I just started PAM Mod R31 using wine on PCLinuxOS and then started CAFE and Xplorer2 from R31. Fun!!

That's a really strange answer... I guess you didn't get the point of this thread at all.
What i want to do is to be able to put shortcuts to FILES (not APPS) in my PStart menu and make them open with the CAFÉ associated apps.
You are correct, I misunderstood what you are trying to do. As I now understand, you want to put a entry in the PStart menu that directly opens a data file of some kind in the proper application.
I had previously downloaded a copy of PStart, so I installed it to a USB drive. Then I added the following menu item:
Name: Fred.txt
Application/file path: ..\Notepad++Portable\Notepad++Portable.exe (I navigated to this using the browse button)
Command line parameters: \documents\fred.txt
Home directory: [left blank]
Description: Open Fred.doc from portable application in PStart menu
It works for me.
Thanks for the tip, finally got it working
Cheers
