I have now uploaded a working version of 1.0, 1.01. Sorry for the previous incorrect upload. On another note, does anyone want to see any other formats, 7zip, bzip2 or self extracting archive for example included in the next version?

$0.02

I would appreciate 7-zip, as it's damn fast and small.

OK

I'll put in on the list, however last time I had trouble with archives over 400mb, I''ll look into it though.

Can't 7z handle 16,000-petabyte files or something like that?

change archive location?

I know that I'm unlikely to backup more than once a day. (Heck, I'll be lucky to remember to do it once a week Wink ) So, why have a separate folder for each date when each will likely have only one file? It makes them that much harder to get to.

How about storing in Destination\ArchiveName@Date-Time instead?

open files/apps?

I currently have my USB drive set up to automatically run PStart which then auto runs several other apps. When PStart closes, the process continues to shut down the apps and then unmount/eject the drive.

When I run Backup, what happens to files that are opened by the running apps? Are they backed up or skipped? I did get an error once that implied an open file was the problem but when I ran Backup again, it completed.

update existing backup?

How about an option to update an existing backup file rather than create a whole new one?

I'm liking the ideas. As for the file naming I'll put an option in the INI for that, so if you want any other formats speak up now. As for appending, yes I'll consider that. And I think it skips files but I dont rightly know.

Backup is good for quick backups for me, but I'm wanting something that can do a differential backup, to save time and space. Just an Idea. Prolly a pain to do though.

Differential

I like the idea of a differential backup -- but can 7z do that? Maybe it could use the "Add files to archive" option, choosing not to overwrite files unless they have an older "Date Modified" setting.

Well,

focus on the core and GUI.
You can do this stuff later. We just want the sweet, sweet, juicy, gooey inside of the chocolate that is Libertà, if, of course, the modules are the layers of chocolate around it. Wink
