Pidgin: Memory Usage

I've been using Pidgin for quite some time now. I've stopped using it yesterday. I noticed Pidgin eats too much memory. Especially when I am talking to someone, when conversations window is opened. It eats even more then Firefox. More then 100,000 K.

On the other hand, Miranda has really small memory usage.

This is big dissadvantage for Pidgin and I surely won't use it anymore (or untill memory usage problem is normalized).

Are you sure this isn't

Are you sure this isn't related to a plugin or something that you use?

I have 2 AIM, 1 Yahoo, 2 MSN, 1 ICQ, 2 XMPP (Google, and Hab.la), and 1 MySpaceIM account and they are always running. I also have 14 plugin enabled.

I have been running this instance for 4.5 hours now with numerous conversations and my peak usage has yet to go over 48,000k.

Are you sure you aren't referring to the Virtual Mem Usage? Mine is currently at 134,000k, but every app always uses a lot of virtual memory...it's a windows thing.

Memory usage

I am referring to what it says in Task Manager. It eats waaaay too much. Other programs, even some browsers (such as Opera USB) are eating less memory with many tabs opened.

Pidgin eats like FFP when I open 20+ tabs. Waaay too much for a chat client.

Pidgin = 100,000 K
Miranda = 15,000 K

MSN

MSN only. That is all. Not a single additional plugin. It eats memory like crazy. I have a clean PC with fresh installed OS.

Anyway, very wierd.

Wierd

The thing is when I am on my mother's computer, it seems like it consumes about 120,000k, while on mine it rarely tops 50,000k and thats with two gmail, two aim and two MSN. So, I think it really has to do with how much other crap you have running. ON my mother's it has about two hundred programs starting up that she doesn't need at startup. Mine on the other hand is very minimalistic, with barely anything on it, except like five programs I can't go without already installed on a computer.
