Pluto Portable 0.6b Development Test 2

Application: Pluto
Category: Development
Description: Pluto is a small but feature rich registry editor.

Download Pluto Portable 0.6b Development Test 2 [565KB download / 668KB installed]
(MD5: 970b86eba64c5ec3f3abd83fa35c1df0)

Release Notes:
Development Test 2 (2008-05-27): Removed GetParent.nsh, ReplaceInFile.nsh, StrRep.nsh, redid application directory, not redoing compression. Also, by now I have created the support page on my site, so the support links from help.html work. This was probably a waste of time, but ah well.
Development Test 1 (2008-05-26): Initial release. Contains a reworked icon, and was DECOMPRESSed and then BRUTEd with PortableApps.com App Compactor.

(Note: Pluto was requested here.)

I thought John said that you ONLY use NRV2E for PortableApps.
I'll test, I'm downloading right now.
Edit: Here it goes:

  1. You never included GetParameters.nsh, you can delete it and strrep.nsh
  2. I thought I read somewhere that the built in Registry Functions are unstable, but that's probably just me.
  3. You don't put the launcher version in the readme.txt anymore
  4. There's no readme.txt in the app folder.
Edit2: It says you portablized a nightly build.

correct

You should decompress and then recompress with nrv2e only.

Oh...

I just remembered something. There's a registry file in defaultdata, you said it was only dependent on an ini file.

Removed GetParent.nsh,
  1. Removed GetParent.nsh, ReplaceInFile.nsh and StrRep.nsh... I forgot them. Sad
  2. I don't believe so. I've never had any trouble with them, lots of people use them.
  3. Removed.
  4. Why would there be? I don't see any need. None of the other apps do that I know of, and Pluto itself doesn't have one.
  5. It's not a nightly build actually, it's 1.6 Beta 7. It's been there for quite a while, and is newer and slimmer than 1.57 Beta 17 (as the very large splash screen has been removed)

There is

a readme.txt under the app folder. Note appname, but app as in the parent of appinfo and appname. It's part of the paf (though it's still not in the draft). It's supposed to have this in it:

These files are used by the portable app. There is usually no need to access these files.

Or somethinglike that.

not redoing compression

I hope you don't plan on this becoming an official Portable App then...

misunderstanding?

I think you must be misunderstanding me.

The "official" download is already UPXed, taking it from ~1MB to ~350KB. BRUTE takes it down 20KB further. I think that there is no real point in DECOMPRESSing it and then NRV2Eing it, but I'll test to see what compression they use. It might already be NRV2E.
