Secure with a password program for flash stick

Hi ... I'm curious if there a program which you can install on a flash stick which you need to enter a password to load the flash stick ? So once you plug the stick in it will ask for a password before you can view whats inside the stick .
Thanks

You've been a member for over 51 weeks and haven't heard/read about U3 or Searching Wink

Now why do I find that hard to believe Blum
https://portableapps.com/node/7363

Basically what you describe is part of the same U3 drive you've had for almost a year.

Now if you want something other than the U3 you already have and love, that's something else,

but, for your simple request [not anybody else's far flung misinterpretation of what they think you meant to say on the third Friday of the month, or what They think you need]...
So once you plug the stick in it will ask for a password before you can view whats inside the stick ...

U3 is still what you want.
[music]:
And nobody does it better,
Makes me feel sad for the rest...
Nobody does it half as good as you.
Baby, baby, baby you’re the best!

[/music]

I've been using it with PortableApps with no problems, in fact I've been using it longer than I've been using PortableApps. Simply put, everyone wants U3 password protection without U3. It's good enough for most people needs, well it's good enough for mine anyway, and I'm a geek Smile But I don't carry government secrets, child pornography, illegal software, or have people following me JUST WAITING to get MY drive!!!

Let the flaming begin.
Oh, and in spite of what they tell you about End Of Life, if it worked yesterday, it will work tomorrow, and will work next year for the purposes which you have described.

note: I'm not telling the poster to get a U3 drive, the poster seems to already have one. This is not a commentary on any other aspect of U3 or it's programs, just simple, basic password protection.

Nope

You have to buy a U3 drive.
You can't install it on a standard drive.

They will become harder and harder to find once Sandisk phases them out for their new platform with Microsoft but who knows when that will be.

But if the important factor to you is the password protection it will continue to work even after the new platform comes out.

No there is not one

The best you will be able to find is encryption software which will make files/folders on the drive inaccessible with out a password. It would decrypt the files each time you needed to use them.

Don't feel quiet comfortable with encryption software myself

I think there's some discussion about this kind of stuff in the beta forums if that's the route you want to go.

TrueCrypt is probably the

TrueCrypt is probably the best encryption solution, free or otherwise, unfortunately, it depends on a driver to be installed, even in their built in portable mode, so it can't be truly portable, and requires admin rights

Yes

But read Zach's reply above.
As I said, it's not really something I'm into.
