mean? Web-Based App? Or embedding a PortableApp in the website?

Don't be an uberPr∅. They are stinky.

Even better

What would really be nice is if Portable Apps could run like SysInternals. To see what I mean just open an IE window to \\live.sysinternals.com\, wait a few seconds and voila all the files and tools are available to use.

Note no http: or file: preceeds the URL.

Is it just me,

or does this not work? (Yes, I am using IE, IE6 under Win2K)
Also, scanning it with Angry IP Scanner 2.21 doesn't find any shares... what gives? It doesn't seem to me that it works, though as an idea, it should. Also, you could just have a small program to map Secret to \\live.portableapps.com\PortableApps\ ...

Firewalls often disagree

many (most?) firewalls block the windows filesharing ports, SMB, RPC, etc, since they are some of the most frequently exploited security issues, and are used by worms to spread (hence blocking them outgoing as well as incoming).

Also, if everyone was sharing a common file system on the server, the apps aren'e exactly portable, since you wouldn't be able to take your config with you. If everyone has their own space, then what you are asking for is that the PortableApps.com site offers a gig or so of free space to anyone who wants it.....

There are already sites out there that offer internet storage (even some free ones), but it may surprise you just how few of them offer mappable drive type access to it, and always due to the very real and very serious security issues involved.
