Since there isn´t a true PNotesPortable support post, I set up one.
So,"put your questions, bugs here, not in the news story"
More information on
PNotes on Sourceforge
PNotesPortable on PortableApps.com
more PNotes skins at PTC
And, yes, since developers of both PNotes "trunks" visit this site, put your requests for future versions / options in here, too...

Any simple way to get the Text Toolbar to never show?
I don't/won't use it as it is a little too foo foo for me
But it distracts from the "cleanness" of the note.
Not a biggie I was just wondering if there was quickie way.
[and thank you Werner for starting this Topic ]

Things have got to get better, they can't get worse, or can they?
Not really. I don't know off any. My suggestion would be for you to make a custom skin that has a non existant toolbar hidden somewhere.

Yeah, Right
Like I would know how to do that
You're funny

Perhaps lamer could implement a switch on/off option within the tray menu,
perhaps with the next PNotes version to come?

Werner, thank you for opening topic!
Tim, I've worked on toolbars for a long time, and now you want me to hide them?
Well, may be in the next version I will add the checkbox, but you'll be the only person to use it Anyway, added to TODO list.
P.S.
You cannot create the skin without toolbar - it's an integral part of skin
I was just asking if there was an option to do it.
I would never suggest you do a major rewrite of code for it.
Remember me, I'm the one who said "they" would suck your soul dry with requests
KISS !!
I was the one who liked your original version just fine, and in fact was using it until yesterday, I think it was the version from August '07
Tim

I can ignore "their" requests, but by no way the request from this one who has never asked requests, but quite the contrary has asked to keep the app simple.
You could make a toolbar that looked just like the bottom of the note window though...
The buttons would still be there, you just couldn't see them.
Here are some targets for next version:
1. Search in all notes
2. Search in single note
3. Randomizing skinless notes colors (newly created notes)
4. Docking notes to specified side of screen
5. Automatically check for new version of PNotes
6. Show/hide toolbar on notes
7. Show skin author info on skin preview
8. Bugs repairing
If you do implement "automatic version checking", please make it optional with a checkbox.
Thanx!

Numbered lists
Hotkeys for bold (CTRL+B), italic (CTRL+I), underline (CTRL+U), align left (CTRL+L), align right (CTRL+R), align center (CTRL+E).
For note schedules, would it be possible to have a note alarm repeat every X days? Maybe add a day field to the Repeat every HH:MM:SS.
I don't know if this happens on anyone else's computer, but when I do the context menu on a note, I get a square next to each item. I get the same thing on the taskbar menu if I add a hotkey to one of the items there.
This is nit-picky, but would it be possible to show the selected font and font color on the Skin->(No skin) display?
Thank you very much for your wonderful program!
If there is anything I can do to help, please let me know,
Don
1. Numbered lists are not supported by RichEdit controls earlier than version 3.0 - and program works with version 2 for compatibility.
2. Ctrl+E, Ctrl+L, Ctrl+R work now, because they are built-in in RichEdit (at least work for me). It's possible to add Ctrl+B, Ctrl+U , but Ctrl+I seems to be built-in as well and it deletes selected text and move the caret one tab forward. I don't know is there something to do with it.
3. I think it's possible to add days to "pester". As yet repeat alarm every 48 (or whatever you need) hours.
4. Squares in menu is very mystery thing that I cannot reproduce, although you are not the first. If I understand right, these are TAB (\t) characters between menu text and shortcut which are displayed by some not understandable reason. I will continue to investigate. BTW, can you send me screenshot with such menu? (aglamer(@)gmail(.)com)
5. In the next version there won't be any text on skinless menu preview, so...
6. You already help by suggestions and bug reports, and you'll have opportunities when I publish next beta for testing
Thank you!
1. That's too bad. I use it for todo lists, and it would be numbered lists would be nice for priority. Thanks anyway.
2. Oops! Sorry, I didn't check Ctrl+E, Ctrl+L, Ctrl+R. Silly me.
3. Pester doesn't work for times greater than 23:59:59. I would like for it to go off once per week, so right now, I just use "Once at:" and change the date each week.
4. I just sent the screen shots.
5. That's too bad. I think that a full preview with background and text color would be nice for judging contrast with out having to apply the changes.
6. I am glad that you find my suggestions and bug reports helpful, but my offer of help remains open, should you want it.
5. It may be a good idea to show skin creators info (if I will implement it). And then I could remove the font preview window
PNotes would become more Portable Device "friendly" by only auto-saving state when changes have been made (to either configuration settings, or notes, etc).
Today PNotes saves state regardless of whether this is needed or not.
I'd like to see "auto-save on state change" on the PNotes 4 TODO list.
I couldn't figure out which one this is. At any rate, I have a feature request: How about the ability to choose which note to show from the right-click menu? Rather than just show all or hide all it would be nice to choose a note to show or edit.
as you can see, I´ve edited the OP because it seems that it can´t be separated; a lot of support questions / requests have been answered within the beta forum leading to the recent full release. But, since I´m obviously the only one who found some bugs,I thought, okay, requests and explaining the features is what support means...
btw no other bugs found means the app is well composed , isn´t it .. ;}

Actually you can do it from control panel - this is its role in PNotes. Adding notes to tray popup menu will load it too much without any benefit.
I guess I was being too lazy. Just trying to avoid opening a window that I will close anyway.
Hi!
A couple of hours ago I got a message on PNotes SF forum from user "fishofchaos". He writes that PNotes does not response to command line switches -x or -xs. I've checked and confirm. While upgrading from version 3 to 3.5 I've changed all calls to EnumWindows to EnumThreadWindows in order to increase performance - but did it by "replace all" way. And obviously there was a call (the one only!) that had to remain EnumWindows
I don't know is there a point for new release? It's not a very important feature - just for those who work with program by scripts. I'm going to publish beta of version 4 in about a month or less. As yet I've prepared archive with EXE only which is available at:
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/pnotes/PNotes_exe_only.zip
Regards
Has anyone been able to make a "skinless" skin? Or am I the only one? I'd like to know how it's done if someone would be kind enough to lend a hand. Thank you.
What would a 'skinless' skin look like? If you describe a bit better what you think it would look like, somebody may work on it have they the time.

It'd be great if under PNotes' preferences dialog, one could set the data folder path. I see from the documentation it's settable via the CLI, but it didn't seem to work for me when launching from the PortableApps tray launcher (I tried editing PortableApps\PNotesPortable\App\appinfo.inf to change the "start" key to include -conf "" "myrealpath").
Thanks for making this available, its great to be able to carry my stickynotes around.
That's actually in PNotes 4.5 Portable Dev Test 1 sorta. I've implemented some of the code. I just haven't made up the new ini, yet.
Create a ini next to the launcher, i.e. the file called PNotesPortable.exe. Call it PNotesPortable.ini, and paste the following values in:
[PNotesPortable]
SettingsDirectory=VALUE
Edit value to be what you want. Please realize that this switch is what PNotesPortable uses to create you settings, etc under Data. Editing this will change that.
And the appinfo.ini won't be used until (I think) Alpha 1 on the new menu comes out, and I think that the appropriate place to be passing variables will be ini that you create next to the launcher.
I'm glad you like having your stickies, and I'm sure lamer will be glad to hear the praise.
